I picked up a 87 wrangler that has a motor change half done by the previous owner. Most of the wiring was cut and re connected. Im trying to bump the motor and am getting nothing. I swapped the solenoid and reconnected it like the last guy had it- still nothing. Its like a ford setup- seperate solenoid and starter. the solenoid has the 2 large posts, one from battery to sol. and one from sol to starter. other than that there are three small posts- 2 in front like a ford and one in back. when the key is in the on position all three small terminals have power but im still not getting power to the starter side, Shouldnt one of the small terminals only get power during the "start" position of key and not run position? But.... shouldnt solenoid still be letting power to the starter side when all three small terminals haver power even if its at the wrong key position???
So far the only thing I tried was running a ground from the solenoid base to the firewall because the mounting holes were kinda cruddy. I also looked for a wire in the harness that is only hot when key is in start position but could not find one. Any ideas???
Thanks
Justin
