Have any of you been able to get out of your phone contract for absolutely shit service? I get no reception at work and the wife and I can't make or receive calls from the house. Yeah you guessed it I have Sprint. I don't live in BFE I live in Dearborn!

I work in Dearborn pretty much every day and my work phone is Sprint... I rely heavily on Data, and when data doesn't work, I need to use voice to call in and get my work done that I could have done using the data... then it drops the call.. SO annoying.. I have talked to many of my customers who have the same problem with sprint.

I got out of mine with Nextel way back in the day. Had to open 3 'support tickets' which never resolved anything. Each ticket took about a week to process. After the 3rd one, they let me out of my contract. Used to be you could lie and say you were moving out of the country, but not sure if that works anymore or if they would require proof.

Sprint has you LOCKED in. they know their service SUCKS and will not let you out of your contract. I complained a lot and rightfully so.

I finally said F it and just left in the middle of contract. I'll be paying them off 20.00 a month. Fucking assholes.

THey wouldn't let me out but I called and told them that I was going to jail and would not need the phone. They said under certain circumstances like military or jail you can put it on hold. It cost me 5 or 10 per month until the contract ended but this was back in 2007, I'm not sure if they allow that now.

The downside is that you lose your phone number and have to keep paying them. The upside is that you can switch to a carrier and get service that works.

The not so funny thing is a few years ago my wife had Verizon and I had sprint. We decided to get a sprint plan for the both of us because my service was pretty good at the time. Holy shit that was a mistake!

After my last bout with Sprint, I'll never sign a phone service contract again. Shitty service is shitty service, no matter who its with. Youll save money in the long run buying an unlocked phone outright and going prepaid than you will a subsidized phone on a contract. I read an article yesterday that AT&T will be going completely contract free within the next couple of years, and no longer subsidizing phones, but financing them interest free as T-Mobile does now.

How far along are you into your contract? Heres the Sprint ETF breakdown:
