winch cable vs beavertail

Looking for ideas to keep the winch cable from dragging on the beavertail peak on my trailer. I have an 18' (4' beavertail) open car hauler with a full diamond plate floor.

I was thinking along the lines of one of these...

...mounted on a magnetic base so I could easily remove it, and not have to cut/drill holes in my trailer.

I might need something at the tail also?

Thoughts?

Two strips of 1/4" or 1/2" thick UHMW would work. You could just bolt them to the trailer. Amazon has pieces of 1/4" in the $15 shipped range. Or if your ever downriver I could make a couple up for ya with recessed mounting hardware and you could pick them up. Only have access to white or blue though.
