Why are some dealers ads full of it?

Obviously it's a bait and switch!

My wife & daughter went to Rinke Chevy to buy a used G6 they had advertised for sale in the paper, my daughter picked it out... clean car 10K miles... looked it over, took a road test, had her bring it to the shop & put it up on the hoist, checked car fax ... done deal ... my wife told them she would be back in the morning to pay for it (it was 5:30pm, they were closing) .... Called insurance company, got coverage faxed over, went to bank, took out cash went back to the dealer @ 10 am.... stood around for a hour and a half... dealer brings the car up ... its perfect, clean... except it was another vehicle (it looked the same)-vin did not match... dealer claimed that car was gone (it was on the lot still-they pointed it out to the salesman.) Needless to say we did not buy anything from that dealership, and won't go back again. Called my brother in law that worked there... bitched. I hate being dicked around.

that's a damn Chevy dealer for you......

Tesla won a court case allwing them to bypass the francise laws

Hadn't heard about that, so I correct my statement to 99.99999% of all dealers are not owned or managed by the OEM's. If you're E-lon Spunk, the rules don't apply to you.

I run Social Media for an agency that works with car dealers and it's funny (ok, not really) to see how stores of the same brand in the same dealer group handle things. The attitude of the sales person is set by the management. If all they care about is moving metal, then often they don't care. If they want people to refer them business and service their cars at the store (where the real money is made) then it's usually a completely different transaction experience.

Writing responses to reviews on DealerRater, Yelp, Google+ and others can be easy, or a nightmare depending on which store it is. If you want a Ford, around here, I see no reason to show anywhere else but with 91Trunk at Varsity.

I'm pretty good too, but that 91Truck guy is the bomb ;)

Ed, the car salesman: I'll get to the bottom of this. Davenport!
Davenport: Yes, Mr. Ed?
Ed, the car salesman: Mr. Griswold ordered a blue sports wagon, where is it?
Davenport: I don't know sir.
Ed, the car salesman: [to Clark] I know what must have happened. It didn't come in.
Clark Griswald: Ed, I'm not your average everyday fool. Now I want my blue sports wagon and if you can't get it I'm gonna take my business elsewhere! Where's my old car?
Ed, the car salesman: I'm just as upset as you are, believe me. Davenport! Get Mr. Griswald's car back and bring it back here! Now I can get you the wagon, there's not problem there. The problem is that it might take six weeks. Now, I owe it to myself to tell you that if you're taking the whole tribe cross-country, the Wagon Queen Family Truckster... You think you hate it now, wait 'til you drive it.
Clark Griswald: I don't want to drive it. I just want my old car back. I'm not falling for this. Let's go, Russ

"All rebates to dealer" will get you every time too. I went to lease a new ram that was advertised "99/mo 0 down 24 months blah blah blah" turns out I had to qualify for all their rebates such as currently owning a 1978 volkswagon, having a golden retriever between the ages of 2-2.5, currently serving over seas, while having just graduated college within two weeks.
