whoes crash at ubly is this?

Yeah that thing landed in front of us. I just got back from making a pass talkin with my dad and he said heads up. I turn around and see the car over the roof of my truck. We got hit with dirt it was nuts. The best part was when he got out.
 
Horrible wreck. Good thing for the cage.

Why did the car bounce back on the grass? Is there like a safety net there or something at Ubly?
 
I remember seeing the video from Ubly and it reminded me of Fast Eddies crash in Orlando 2006. We saw this from the stands and I thought the car was going to land in the crowd....... needless to say Orlando Speedworld installed concrete barriers shortly after the event.

That was that "dyno dave" guy. That's why I won't run at Ubly unless it's with a slower car. Concrete barriers keep the cars in, guardrails just launch the car.

The nose of the car dug into the ground causing the car to "pieroette" on its nose then it fell back towards the track.

Very vivid memory for everyone in our pit area.

That was October 13th, 2007. I was two cars behind him in the staging lanes when that happened. My buddy was also shooting pics from the stands at the time and got a couple of the burnout and the holeshot. He said he was sitting there in awe watching it all happen and forgot to take pics of it. Luckily, everyone came out ok...the car not so much. I've got a bunch of pics of the car before and after as well as the armco (post-incident), but I'm not allowed to post pics yet. Oh well.

As stated, it was pretty scary to watch him go right through the armco. It definitely made me think twice about the safety provisions at Ubly.

Good to hear they've made some safety improvements.
