I bought a Crisis Zone arcade a few days ago. It has a Wells Gardner 27K5201 monitor in it. The monitor displays the game, however, it is scrolling diagonally across the screen really fast. I can somewhat slow it down or speed it up with the v-hold, h-hold and whatever other pot control potentiometers there are, but nothing substantial to make it stop. I've switched out the pot control buttons with a different one from my parts machine, but it gives me the same results.

I've also tried swapped the entire game board, amp and pretty much everything that was attached to the harness, including new wire from the video out to the monitor. Same problem.

Is there anyone who knows about these? I'm guessing at this point, its a monitor problem. I don't have another monitor to test with and I'm pretty much a noob at this. I'm scared to dig around on the monitor boards because I don't want to get shocked by something...especially the flyback. Visually, everything seems fine and both games are extremely clean inside. Advice on how to trouble shoot? I heard that a cracked solider point on the neck board could cause this. I guess I'll try and pull out the monitor and check this out. I've also heard that it could be a problem with my cable going to the video card to the monitor. I don't think this is it, because I hooked up another cable from my parts machine and it has the same effect. I'm thinking that maybe the monitor isn't syncing up with the game?? I have no clue on how to check this. any help would be greatly appreciated. The arcade forums I'm on seem to have people that don't like to help noobs. Thanks.

Sounds like a sync issue. Could be sync separator or bad connection.

Check main board and neck for bulged capacitors, burnt resistors...anything visual. May be worthwhile to invest in a capacitor kit while you're at it.

Can you post pictures of the main board and neck?

Thats what I've been thinking. Maybe a bad part. I was actually planning on recapping it anyways, just for good measure. When I do that, I'll inspect the rest of the board. I'll try and post a pic early next week. The monitor is in a weird position. Its facing vertically up, then reflecting off of a mirror, so I'd have to pull it out to get a good snap shot. I plan on doing this anyways when I've got a little free time. I've officially ran out of time for anything this weekend. LOL. 48 hour film challenge starts Friday and I have a lot of powder coat work to do between now and then.
