Who can school me on electric dog fences?

The secret to any of those systems...the thing that TRULY makes them work...is the TRAINING you do with the dog as soon as the system goes in. The collar should be a last resort reminder more than a correcting tool.

Some people just throw the wire in the ground, strap on the collar and let the dog go at it. That is the worst possible thing you can do with a system like that. IF uses a pretty in-depth training system for the first few weeks the system is in the ground, which is one reason it has been proven to be so effective. That's honestly one of the biggest differences between IF and the other systems out there (along with some slight improvements to the system circuitry and collar design)

Honestly, there were a few customers that we had to go back out because they were having issues, but it all came down to training. The "problem dogs" ended up just being situations where the owners didn't want to take the time to do the initial training. Once the training was completed properly, the dog respected the fence in every situation (except that one I had mentioned earlier)
