White Out's engine build thread...

WOW who would have ever thought that the line form the fast and the furious would be true? you really did "blow the welds on your manifold."

LOL sorry man couldnt resist...............

ASRoff; yeah I know. Fucking rediculious.

wide winger; I know that the tune was all fucked up. It was tuned by Tim Bailey of PDX. He came down to Buscher for a tuning session. A complete waste of time & money. But the engine management I switched to Accessport (reflash) is a much safer and more accurate system than what I was using UTEC (piggyback).
Now the accessport has software that will alow me to tune the car. So I am going to have a guy from cali (Ed) remote tune the car, while I and another friend make adjustments and shoot the logs back to Ed for further modification untill we get the car where we want it.

Spent 14 hours working on the car saturday. Got the motor in, turbo in, all exhaust hooked up, fmic on, all accessories hooked up, half shafts in, and intake/charge pipes mocked up. I need to pick up some coolant/oil lines, cut and install fuel lines, weld up intake/charge pipes, new boost controller, weld in wideband o2 bung, hook ecu up to a laptop, and then start up.

Dropped the engine and turbo in last weekend.

Yup, that is the stock intake manifold. 20+awhp isn't worth the risk of the Magnus breaking again.

Nick, what clutch/flywheel setup did you go with? Almost looks like an ACT flywheel. Who do you plan on having tune the car? I'm good friends with Dan from Harman Motive out in Cali, if you don't have anything lined up, I think your car would be a good candidate for him to make a trip out here. I've been trying to get him out here for months, haha! Any fuel system upgrades (rails, etc.)? I'm pretty interested in your build, I think I might be able to help you out with some things you might not already have or have been wanting.

The clutch is an ACT sprung hub six puck and a stock STi flywheel.

I am having Ed from Eq Tuning fly out and do the car. He has tuned the fastest stock turbo STi in the country and made over 320awhp on two local VF39 cars (ej205 & ej257). If you would like, he could tune your car also if you are in need of one.

Since I forgot to mention, with my 91 octane tune (sub 400awhp) the car trapped 115mph 6,400ft above sea level w/o launching.

Finished up the fuel lines, charge pipes, and boost controller.
All that is left...
coolant feed & return lines
oil return line
some vaccume hoses
drill and tap plastic upper coolant resivior (replaces the alluminum one for more clearance for intake & filter)

Cool buildup.

There were a couple STI's at Martin Saturday......one dude snapped an axle on his second pass.

Well everything is ready for start up.... except the ap. Long story short I have a useless ap because it has the wrong software and we can't load any maps onto it. We are going to find a soloution for it this week and post up any more progress. Here are the pictures from sunday.
Todd took the '05 STi upper coolant resivior and ground off the lower mount. Then drilled and tapped it for my defi coolant temp sensor. This will allow for more room for an intake from the turbo. It is much smaller than the '04 STi resivor.
