should i go auto, tremec world class, or one of the 500 or 600 trans's?

my car aint really much, i just want a trans that can hold up to track beatings, and driveing around town.

thinking maybe even a c4 or something of the likes, but, still want over drive, and a good firm shift, and a high rpm leave, kinda limits me to a five speed right? would a built auto hold up to driveing around town, and down the e-way back and fourth to work? express way speeds are usually 75-80, and i have a 3.73 gear, there goes the c4 idea.

im kinda afraid the world class may not hold up also. i will be at the track almost once a week next year. but any pointers in any direction is appreciated, that why i started this thread. at this point money aint really a concern, more or less i want to drive the wheels off it next year. i am plannin on spending 2500.

i kinda want the 600, just cause everyone has future plans, as do i, and i figure, whats the point in spending money twice, should i just get the best now?

oppinions please.

I run the tremec tk0 and its been a great trans for 5 years! I have been making 700 rwhp/700rwtq for over 4 years and have only broke a third gear cluster once. I would guess it had atleast 50-75 track passes and double that on street blast before it let go the last time.

hahaha, how much horsepower? this is where it gets kinda funny. like i said, it aint nothing special. i think i may be around 250-275 at the wheels.:3gears: but, i am, and will be at the track ALOT. many people told me i wouldnt blow up my mr proshift, then, what do ya know, i lost 4th, then followed 3rd, then first. i never missed a gear, always used the clutch, i changed the fluid in it, with the syncromesh every other time at the track, and i actually felt i was takeing care of it. it was alot of money to waste, and i do want to buy a 600 but as always, am looking for something cheaper that will hold up as well. i will be driveing the piss out of it during the entire summer next year also. it would be considered my daily driver as long as its not raining, and i drive atleast 300 miles a week. thats just some info on my car.

wow, and that was with actually makeing some power also. im not planing on breakin it with my car, but what you just said, pretty much gaurentees that im not gonna break one ever.

I could build you a full manual 4r70w with overdrive and lockup with a 3.8 case and a Tbrake that would take a stupid amount of power. With a converter you would be in the $2800 range for a complete unit with all the upgrades. That transmission would take up to around 1000hp and 800lb ft and be fine.

If you interested let me know. Ask around we have built a few AODE AOD and 4r70w transmissions that are living with big power just fine.

i do like the sounds of a built auto, but my question in the end, is, i can drive a tko all day, back and fourth to work, blah blah, groecery stors, whatever. the main thing holding me back from a built auto, is would i get the same life span out of the auto??? i drive i94 everyday cross us23, which is always stop and go, and cross state street, which is usually always stop and go also.

im glad someone responded that knows something about a auto, because the thought of makeing the switch from a manual, to a auto has been going threw my mind even before i broke my trans. i have to say tho, im not looking to get anything yet, its the end of the season, and other things have to come first, but im looking forward to doing this sometime in january, possiably febuary, and hopefully no later then march.

at 259hp it would live forever.

I agree with Sean, the 4r70w's are cheap to build and with your power level would live forever.

Rob just put a c4 in the damn thing! You have the ranger to drive to work.

DDDDDDAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH......... YOU GUYS ARE KILLING ME.:uzi::no:

hahahaha, im not too hip to all this automatic stuff. it never even crossed my mind that a manual valve body in anything, is shifted manualy. :haha:

so its seems like the vote is in the direction of a automatic. i dont know, we'll have to see when the time comes i guess.

sean, i will probally be talking to you again, im likeing the sounds of the auto, and i think i can do that cheaper then a compleate tko set up anyways, unless i was to buy one used.

Ive got a 500 in mine and it has been great. Had the TKO in my last car and dont feel to much of a difference.

You'll like the auto. I like mine alot. I do miss my 5 speed often but I like having a consistent, reasonably quick car. The auto just works better on the street in my opinion. I do love a nice manual though....
You were in my car the other night, so you know what its going to be like if you do decide to put in a c4.
