Where to stay on Woodward (hotel/motel) for Dream Cruise?

I have a buddy flying in from Delaware and wants to know where to stay all week to walk and catch car action,displays, etc, etc. What do you recommend?

Most are booked for years in advance.
My choice would be the old Kingsly in in Bloomfield and take a bus south.
Most of the motels 12 mile and south are shit holes that rent rooms by the hour...lol

I think thats correct.
I always liked that motel/hotel.
It had a comfortable atmosphere, great brunch, staff has always been excellent when Ive been there.....Not real cheap though. I imagine for Woodward cruise its already booked solid.

When people flew in for my get together's they either stayed at the Sterling Inn on Van Dyke and 15 mile, Joel generally stays down by the Tech center.

Call direct or stop at the Travelodge by 13 mile.. I think for one day in March they take the rsvp in person and must be paid in full... There is a minimal amount of days and cost is $$$$
