Hey guys,
I've been a member here for almost two years but rarely see myself over here vs other forums like SVTPerformance and Corral. I'm starting to get frustrated with some of the advise I see people giving others on these other sites. Some people truly think they are good with cars when we all know the truth. Anyways, I'll get to the point. There was a guy that asked for opinions on how to prime his recently rebuilt 4.6 4v. He didn't give any insight as to who did the rebuild or if the pump had been packed prior to assembly, nothing. Of course a few people jumped in and basically said fire it it, it will prime itself just fine. :spank: I know everyone has different ways of doing thins, I'm not looking to start a debate. I'm already involved in one of over there. Lol. My personal opinion, any new rebuild should be primed properly prior to the starter spinning that motor. I've always packed the oil pump with vaseline and primed the system and then I would crank it over without fuel two or three times for no longer than 10 secs each before I fire it up. When your talking about the money it takes to build a motor the right way, I like to do things the safe way they are intended....not just the easiest!! I'm just wondering what you guys have to say. What are your preferred methods? Thanks guys!
