What's everyone got for phones? I need a new one.

I've got a Droid turbo & love it, but it's on its way out. It's been dropped more times than I can remember, (no case either), submerged, left on the welding table at work while I was tig welding and she's still ticking. I'm sticking with Verizon and an Android phone. I'm not trading in my turbo, so I'll have it for work. I'm not on Facebook & don't really play games. I'm going to hit a Verizon store & check some out. I was looking at the Pixel and a Nexus online. Any thoughts? What's everyone got that's not an iPhone and how do you like it? A good camera is a big plus for me, I like taking pictures.

Lol. I'm not a big tech guy, but I use my phone a lot. I don't remember the last time I actually used my PC at home.

Me and my wife had the Nexus 5 I believe. We both liked the Nexus phone over our galaxy phones. We have iPhones for the last 18 months, and I'm unsure if I will go back to Android or not. We both have the iPhone 6 currently. We will either go to the iPhone 8 or back to Android at the end of this coming summer.

If you want to spend the money, the Pixel is the one to get right now. There are two models, the Pixel and Pixel XL. Both have the same hardware, just different screen sizes. The Pixel is $650 for the 32GB model and the XL is $770.

I've got the galaxy s7 edge. I love this phone, it's more than paid for itself. Been dropped in the shallow end of a lake. Sat outside in a slush pile for over an hour this winter. This phones been dropped, kicked and not even so much as a micro scratch on the screen, still looks brand new. Performance wise it does everything I need it to do. Battery life could be a little better I feel.

Wife has a nexus 5x... Also pretty awesome sub $300

Have a Pixel XL. Love it. It really is the iPhone of the Android world. It's simple, powerful, and it just works.

I'm going to fly by a Verizon store today & check out a Pixel. They have a Droid turbo 2, but it's kinda dated. If I knew they were coming out with a turbo 3 I'd wait, but I don't think they are, nothing definite at least, just online rumors.

All the talk about Pixel's brings another valid question. Anybody use the Google FI service in Metro Detroit ? Overall experience ?

one thing to note between a Droid and the Pixel....i really like having the little notification numbers above the icon if you have a missed call, text, email. Stock Android does not have that. Just an FYI, i have a Turbo too, and would NOT get a Turbo 2 either.

Android Nougat does have the notifications you're talking about. I just installed Lineage OS (formerly Cyanogenmod) on my Moto X 2014 and it does that. I also got Google Assistant going on it, which is typically a Pixel only feature. Lineage OS is an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) ROM, it's vanilla Android without the Google Apps, but the Google Apps can be easily installed.

The Droid Turbo was one of the last Moto phones along with the 2014 X and G made under Google ownership. Motorola is a different company now that they're owned by Lenovo. Their quality has taken a nosedive and they aren't timely with updates like they were under Google. Some of their newer phones don't even get updates beyond how they come stock. Don't get me wrong, I do like the newer Moto phones, but I wouldn't run them as they come from the factory. I'd unlock the bootloader, flash a new recovery, and install an open source Android ROM.

Yeah, I really like not having to unlock my phone to read a text or see who called. It's a nice feature

The google phones are the way to go for many reasons. Nothing on the market can compare.
