who makes a better bottom eagle or scat? just wondering because i'm in the market for 4340 crank and h-beams!

Actually, I thought they are now nearly the same company. I think the Father owns Scat and son owns Eagle and I think they are all part of Probe and CHP....

I am running 351w rods in my truck. When I got my crank back from getting clearanced.I opened the package and my builder sent me SCAT I-beams instead of the Eagle's that I wanted. So he sent me the Eagles and I compared the SCAT rod next to the Eagle rod and there was definatly more meat in the important areas on the Eagle rods.So I sent him back the SCAT's.Just my 2cents

Ok, it boils down like this. They get their parts from the same forging company in China, Scat finish machines their parts in the USA, Eagle has them machined in china.

Which is better, well the material is the same, but the scat parts are more consistant, and go through more quality control inspections then Eagle parts do.

Which would I run?

Scat crank, and I would spend a little more money and get a manley H-beam, they are Forged in the US so the material quality is better, as well as the machining

so your saying that just cuz they are finished in the US they are better? I'm with ya but just askin.

Correct, seeing things first hand while working in a machine shop that bothers to check bearing clearances i see how shitty eagle stuff really is. Dont get me wrong, They are essentially the same components, but they Scat sttuff is way more consistant. The only other difference is that Eagle advertises stuff way before you can actually get it, which is a bunch of crap, Scat puts it in the books after they got their shipments in.

On another note, K1 technologies is a similar company that has popped up recently, stay the fuck away from them, there stuff isn't even sorta close to right.

thanks for the info guy's! i think i'm gonna go scat! it suck's that scat and eagle are forged in china i never new that! fucking everything is china!:pissed:

we need to get rid of that free trade bullshit and get some job's back in the us!

For a little more money you can get into the Compstar stuff from Callies. It is forged over seas, but finished 100% in Fostoria, Ohio. Rods come with ARP 2000 bolts as standard. I've personally put 900hp through them without incident.
