One of my friends recently bought a 1973 duster, it has a non running 360 and the 8 3/4? rear end, has a nice cage frame ties and the underbody is in good shape. he wants to trade me for my 1970 Challenger, the chally needs A LOT of work it runs but the frame rails and floors are pretty much gone and the body is a lil worse than the duster.

the question is, would you make the trade and how hard are duster parts to come by?
oh and he said he would give me $100

Just me, and taking into consideration of what you are saying above....

Maybe it is worth it for you to make the swap as it sounds like you could have a solid car on the road sooner with the Duster.

...But lets be honest a 70 Challenger is way cooler than the Duster IMO. I say keep the Challenger and do it right. Will be worth it in the end possibly. :dontknow:

Hmmmmm
Both are two really nice MOPARS. I would look at it as what one do you like and or want more. There is plenty of things you could do to both of them. Me I would keep the Challenger. Don't get me wrong a Duster is a badass car. I don't even like MOPAR and I like Dusters. But it is up to you. But I would keep the Challenger.

Details on the e body? Small block/big block?
small block 318, 727tf and the small rear end.

the thing is I really love my chally but I just dont have the skill money or time to restore it, its really far gone and I know the guy that wants to trade will never be able to fix it. the duster I could build the engine and trans and have it on the road by mid summer. but its not as cool as the chally lol. thanks for the input guys I really appreciate it, i'm gonna really have to sit down and think about this for a couple days/ weeks. dont wanna say " oh man I used to have one of those, if I only had it now" lol

If you can get the duster on the road faster within your budget I say go for the trade.

If you know the 70 is just going to rot and you won't be able to get it done anytime soon. I'd trade it.

When I was building my 86GT (the one that was in the for sale section recently as a roller) I had it about halfway done and just ran out of money my situation changed and I was forced to buy a house which ate up all my spare money to finish the car. I traded it for something I could get some enjoyment out of.

If you have no sentimental attachment to the car I say trade it for the one you can finish within your limitations. Always other cars out there and driving the cars is a lot more fun then looking at them and dreaming.

^Agreed.
If you know you'll never finish the Challenger, but think you'll finish the Duster-do it. Let's face it, neither is worth much as they sit, they'll both need a lot of work to be valuable at all. The Duster is easier/cheaper to get parts for, lighter, smaller, more complete.
If you're really concerned, search each on ebay and see what they sell for if you find some similar ones.
