What is the best way to wash a hat?

I'm referring to your run of the mill baseball style cap with a brim. I have a few dark blue or black golf hats that are looking a little rough and I would like to wash them. I hear some people saying put them in with your clothes and let it air dry. I have another camp using the dishwasher, but I haven't seen any results. So I ask you Motown Muscle, how do you was your hats?

go to walmart & get a couple of those hat things for like $2 each. Then either put them in the top of the dishwasher or in the washer with not a lot of clothes. Also put the spin cycle on low. I put them outside to dry afterwards.

I just throw them in the wash machine with everything else then let them air dry.

I used to toss them in with the brim shaper and just toss em in the wash with the rest of my clothes, after the wash id pull it out and put it on my head. itd dry into the perfect shape

Ive used both the dishwasher when I was younger and the hat shaper in the washing machine/air dry. Both seem to work pretty well.

But lately I just never wear a hat. Surprisingly they never get dirty now!

I just use dish soap and a wash cloth or something with bristles and let it air dry. Works for me. :dontknow:

x2

A bunch of guys where I used to work do the same thing. I tried it and it turned out better than machine washing.

i was surprised how well it works... if they are really dirty you can use soap or body wash if yer old lady doesnt mind...lol scrub it with the pooofy thing and then use shampoo... they even smell nice when yer done! haha

well 90% of whats on your hat is sweat and oil from your hair...which is what shampoo gets rid of

Shower if I must. If a hat gets too bad, I just buy a new one of the same hat. I've had 5 different white Boston hats... of the same design.
