What does buying American mean to you?

To me it means buying it in this country, not the product being made overseas, shipped here, then sold in our stores, and considered not made in the U.S.A. It is sold here by hard working Americans which our dollar helps feed there families and that is good enough for me. All of the die hard buy American people go through your cabinets, garage, rooms, and dressers and count the things that are made in America. To me buying "American Made" is a idiotic way of thinking. How bout just focusing on buying in America to help our economy. Go to the store, and not the internet.

I'll settle for being made in North America. Why should I buy something made in China or Japan if it's available HERE. The more American made stuff we by, the more jobs we have here. A countries wealth is based in a large part by it's manufacturing. Our manufacturing strength was how we won WWII. We didn't buy our planes from Air Bus. We didn't buy our tanks and trucks from China or Japan. Glock or the Russians didn't sell us our guns. Without manufacturing this country would be a third world country. People all over the world had respect for the words on a crate that said "Made In USA".

Based on your thinking, we should buy anything because you're too lazy to look at the packaging. If you are this bad, go to France and surrender like the Frenchies do whenever they're challenged. Moving to Texas has corrupted your mind. Are you looking for a Honda to drive too? Do you think everything negative printed by the Dallas papers regarding the auto industry is true? If so, I sure hope they closed that truck plant there.

Not everything can be purchased as American Made. That's the reality. But it sure doesn't mean I can't look at the packaging or check a website to see if something like it is made here. If Levi's can't make their jeans here, why not buy a pair from someone who does.

It's like the difference between a cheap crank from Eagle vs a quality piece from Lunati. Give me the American made Lunati to build an engine around and let Eagle make Chinese garbage cans.

I always check the package of what I buy to see where it's made. Sometimes you can't get around it though. We all have shit that's made in china. I also try to keep my money as local as possible. I'll go to the local hardware store instead of Home Depot, local tire store, etc. It might cost a couple extra bucks here and there, but it's worth it.

wow a studebaker owner going after a subaru owner LOL gotta love motown muscle

Did you really want me to talk smack and mention that the fastest stock Studebakers with all of the 45 year old technology and 700 lb. engines are still faster than the fastest Suburu with their turbo and modern gizmos? No all-wheel drive, no turbo, no EFI and no traction control. Just 304 cubic inches with a Paxton and a T-10 running thru a Dana 44. 12.80's on bias-ply tires and the stock cam. How fast would that Subie go with bias-ply tires?

"What does buying American mean to you?"

I am American, so for me it means
my purchases yield the best value for me
& my family first & foremost.

Money is too hard to come by to waste.
I insist that every dollar work / yield /
stretch the very best it can.

I am happy when I know I have spent as
wisely as I can to receive the best value
that I can achieve.

Does this mean I buy things “made in
America”? - sometimes. Sometimes I
buy things made in Milan, sometimes
things made in Michigan.

If you’re selling something, you had better
make it a very good value if you expect me
to purchase it.

Please understand that the “highest value for
the money” doesn’t necessarily mean the cheapest
cost. It simply means the best for the money – that’s
value.

Why play fantasy games? Let's go with the real stuff. How many records does Suburu have at Bonneville?
