what do you think about late model GTO's?

i had the 04 with a 6spd
i got really good mpg in it at all times
it was a bit heavy no q's about that
like some said above the ls2 is a bit better but nothing that you cant fix as long as you can shell out the $$

funny thing i saw this thread because just on sat my wife said "i loved your gto" as i was talking to her about getting a new car within the next year or so

I love them.

Call me crazy but I wouldn't mind having one in Cosmos Purple.

Hey Golden.... check this out!!!

The trunk and back seat are useless, though.

I have two small kids and they fit back there just fine. Anyone who's ever rode back there has commented that it's very roomy and comfortable once you get in there. Ever been in the back seat of a Mustang? It's nothing like that. The GTO platform was based on a 4 door so the rear seating area is actually decent for carrying full sized people.

What did you get? On the highway I could hit 25 as long as there was no traffic backups or anything.

In town it was more like 14-16 :(

Not THAT bad I guess.

My daily commute usually gets me around 18. I don't do much highway but I guess 25 is pretty accurate if you can keep the speed down around 70-75. Once you get past 80 it starts going down closer to 22-23.

They also changed the brakes in '05. I passed on the '04s and waited to get an '05. The total combination of LS2, hood scoops, dual exhaust tips, and better brakes convinced me to wait. I've done over a dozen track days with mine and put another 24k miles of 3 season daily commuting on it. It's easily the best all around vehicle I've ever owned.

I have an 05 auto and love it to death. On the highway I get about 22MGP (auto gets less MPG than the manual), and buzzing around town I average about 16/17MPG. Those extra 2 gears you get in the manual give you another 2 or 3MPG.

Hanging @ 75 my m6 will pull down 26 all day long, oddly enough if I bump it up a touch over 80 it goes up to almost 27-28.

Sure wish I weren't in school. It's just an oddball color that I dig for some reason.

I really dig yours too! I was practically drooling over it at Beau's. I would have asked for a quick ride in it, but I didn't want to be rude ;)

You should have. It was raining and we had nothing better to do.

I have an '06 Cyclone Grey Metallic with 18s & 6spd and love it.

The only modifications I have done to it now is Dr. Gas x-pipe, spintech mufflers, P/P T.B. and a LPE intake. I got a really good price on ProCharger kit, but I have to hold off on it.

It was a toss up on the CGM or the Brazen Orange.
