Here's another example, your brain automatically thinks that the dress is under a shadow and makes you think it's a lighter color than it really is:

this car still is not blue.JPG

See, color picker is bull shit. The car was obviously white, but I color pickered the front bumper of this shitty picture I took and it tells me it is blue.

Color picker is most definitely not bullshit. You're just cherry picking a small segment of a tone reflected throughout the image. Are you surprised a white car surrounded by blue lighting picks up blue tones? The entire dress is a near uniform color that reads nowhere else in the image.

Oh, here we go, there are no blue lights, I color pickered snow. We all agree that snow is white, correct?

Color picker from the side of the push bar on this white car. No blue lights, pulled from a verticle surface in the shade, ie, not just reflecting the sky.

You don't like cars because they are reflective? Look, a blue cat! I have no recollection as to what the context of the text on this image was. I have some old funny shit in my photobucket.

As I remember from my art & photography college classes....

Light not only changes color, it determines it. In other words,
if you take a medium blue, add light to it & it becomes sky blue.
Subtract light from it & it becomes midnight blue.

Remove all light, and there is no color.

I believe we have varying degrees of sight & reproduction of
image, both affecting light = color.

This morning the dress was white and gold. Just seen it on the news and it was blue and black. So I checked back here and I see blue and black now. Thats trippy.
