What's your location and rifle of choice? This year I'll be only able to make it out opening weekend. Life has been pretty crazy with this remodel and work. I'm going with GrandmaLS and a few of his friends to his family cabin in Copemish, MI. I'm up in the air if I'm going to take my Remington 870 with a slug barrel or take out the trusty Remington 700 30/06. Might take both and see if I end up in a stand or a blind. That 700 is pretty short and easy to move around in a tent.

What are your guys plans?

Remington 700 BDL .30-06. About 10 miles SW of Houghton Lake. Not sure on the dates yet - with opening day being on a Monday this year, kinda puts a kink in our normal plans.

I'll most likely be heading up for the first time this year...(i'm 33...lol)
Not sure where yet, depends on who i go with...
I'll be carrying an old Belgian made Browning Automatic Rifle.... 30.06 from 67-68 (it was my fathers) It's still very accurate even with the old Bushnell Scope on it :)
Cant wait.....

Copemish, eh? I lived there for about half a year after high school with my buddy. He still has property up there. Thats where we go to shoot guns and act like northern folk. Haha! What road is the cabin on, if you dont mind me asking?

I can't remember off hand. You'd have to ask Tom. I've only been there once before. Just remember it being right off of M115.

Heading to Lewiston with my Remington semi-auto 30-06 / Nikon Monarch. Zero'd last weekend and ready to go! Have 6 of us going out so should be a good time.

Good luck to everyone!

Just out of curiosity, at what yardage do you sight-in?

100 yds. The Nikon scope has a BDC reticle that actually works rather well for longer distances. However, I also check it at 50 yds as well. Some say if you can hit a 12x12 paper target at 50 yds, and have it zero'd at 100 yds you are good enough. I can keep my semi-auto (not very accurate, lol) in a 2.5" diameter grouping at 50 yds. The grouping gets to about 3" at 100 yds. My bolt action 6mm can be held to about 1.5" at 100yds with a fixed 4x scope with course crosshairs. If the scope was more powerfull (like the Nikon on the 30-06), it would get way better.

i leave for MN on the 3rd there opening day is the 6th then i come home on the 13th just in time for our opener. I have a Browning A bolt 30.06 and in mich i us my remington 870

Will be just outside of Merideth. (20mi south of Houghton Lake) I'll be taking a trunk full of guns just for kicks. But in my blind will be my good ol deer slaying Browning BLR Lever action 30-06.

Plan on hitting the elbow lake bar? It's a shithole, but good pasties.

Yep. We will go to Elbow Lake. Or Merideth bar. (1/2 mi down the road) for a true shithole of a bar. Limberlost is always a good bar to hit up. Oh yea, can't forget Micelli's. :boobies:

Great... almost time for all the hacks to come out and empty a mag on a deer 200+ yards away running across a field :( gut shot season is what they should call it...
