thought the TT started at noon, found out at 11:30 it started at 10 and ended at 1.. so i hauled butt over there to make a few runs and see where the car was.
nice track on the south side of town, alot of pretty bad a$$ cars there. lined up right away, no wait. spun bad off the start and had to let off. finished with a 13.3, 1.966 60ft. hotlapped, missed 3rd and ran a 14.2 with 2.01 60ft. traction was horrible. with 315/35's you would've thought you were on the street not the strip. stopped for a moment, talked to someone who informed me they don't use VHT, of course by then i kinda figured that much.
decided to run once more before the races started. spun all through 1st and missed 3rd again,.(third gear syncros' are toast, i knew that) on the return lane the guy behind me was flashing his lights, i couldn't figure out what the deal was..pulled up to grap my ticket and he yelled "get out of there, your cars on fire!!!"
oh snap, bailed and got on the other side of the booth while he sprayed the gas tank area. holy crap.

pushed her off to the side and jacked it up to find out what happened. looks like the wiring shorted and caught fire right where the fuel tank harness connects to the car. i spliced in a relay there for my areomotive pump. all in all damage was minimal. bypassed the relay, unhooked the stock wires going to the tank and drove it home.

too close! i've been driving that car throughout the summer. never had an issue, drove it to muskegon and such. the fact this happened at the track with a fire extinguisher on hand is absolutely incredible. that guy saved my life. i was incredibly lucky today, but the track conditions were horrible, i don't think i'll waste my time there again without slicks.

i like ubly best 60' ever had was at ubly! 1.36 60 on mtr! (in a s-10 with leaf spring's and traction bar's!)

thats a good 60ft, but it wasn't happening today, thats for sure! others had problems hooking as well.

just noticed, on my first run the guy next to me pulled a 12.312 and my mph was 3 faster than him at the finish....

Do you have a gray Camaro with black SS wheels??

T&T was from 11-1......they started exactly at 11 which was nice.

Yeah I think we saw you make your first run. I hopped back in my car to go a couple more times after you were done with that one, but ended up only doing one more and taking off.

when is your next trip to stanton?

ASAP:rockwoot:

Actually the next Midnight Madness is Sept 8th and another one on the 15th. I am going to plan to make at least one of those.

Oh by the way........sorry about your Wolverines :faint:

Ryan you need to figure out a good way to get some heat in those slicks........maybe hook up a rope to a tree during your burnout :chairfall

If you can hook you solidy have an 11 second timeslip......and more likely a mid 11 with the better fall air.

I know. The second set of times I went out I actually went the back way and yanked the e-brake in reverse to tighten it up. I have no idea why it won't hold me still. As soon as the tires got moving doing a 1st or 2nd gear burnout the car starts pulling forward. Maybe at Milan or somewhere I could actually let it pull me a little more before getting to close to the starting line it would work better.

Either way, I plan on mounting my slicks up and giving it at least one more shot this year. An 11.XXX should be right there if I can get at least down to a 1.8 60'.

Joe thanks for letting me hang around the fam. Everyone was extremely nice to me even though I was missing 4 cylinders. Kevin if you read this, same to you. Thanks.

yeah, more or less, car is a purple pearl, looks grey at times...
so time to drop the tank and redo a few things, get some slicks for next time.

No problem man. My family is a bunch of car nuts so we are pretty easy to get along with.

Even though you are 4 cylinders shy of a full deck you were still quicker than quite a few cars there.

Absolutly.

I already spoke to a guy I work with about rigging up a line lock for the rear of my car next week. Screw the e-brake...this will hold.
