Watch what you take

Here is my little psa about taking drugs your doctors prescribe. I was taking Effexor XR for over a year and now my doctor thinks that is what caused me to have high blood pressure which caused my stroke. Effexor is for anxiety - I was put on it when I was going through a tough time with my kid (kids do that to you). My doctor here in Illinois is taking me off of this evil drug. It isn't one that you can just quit taking. You have to slowly lower the doses before you can completely stop taking it.

So, make sure you check out all of the side effects on a new drug before you start taking it. The withdrawal symptoms I'm going through now are making me sick. It is affecting everything I do. And I mean everything. Mark was smart and scheduled a business trip to CA this week. LOL It has made me bitchy....more than my usual bitchy self. I'm confused more than I'm not. Some of that is because of the stroke but the withdrawals aren't helping.

Just a little friendly advice to watch what the doctors give you.

You are absolutely correct in that everyone should read the information supplied with their medication. Its not that a certain med will cause the same problems with everyone, but we are all different, and therefore the meds can cause different problems. I was put on a standard anti inflammatory for my back pain, and it caused my blood pressure to rise. Ive also been given benadryl as a sleep aid, and it keeps me awake. You must always pay attention to reactions. Eveyone needs to stay involved in their health, not just assume that what a doctor gives you is ok for you.
