What I saw was some kid not listening. That's what lead to him being held down by the throat (which I agree was a bit excessive). But, when a cop tells you to stop, you stop. If he woulda stopped, then yes, this could have all been avoided. But no. He decided to keep going. Then, his friends tried to be heros. When a cop tells you not to interfere, then guess what....back the f*ck off. It's for his safety as well as yours. The kid had a camera and could have used the evidence he captured for a complaint without getting involved. But, that's just my opinion....

i hate when cops blow things way out of proportion to try and act hard.
he was way too tough with those kids, they are like 13! what are they gonna do? he has to arrest all of them? just to prove his point that he is a bad ass cop.
i got caught spraying vht for a street race by the cops one time, when i tried to walk away before they pulled all the way up, things didnt turn out so well. haha. but im not mad about that time. it was dumb of me.

Wow I am just speechless. Wow. Ah yeah 13 yr old kids on skateboards do they really need to be assualted?. Wow. Just Wow. He should have called for assistance and had more officers come and help. I can see where the kids sort of antogonized him a bit but his reaction is what I typically come to see from police these days. Dude looks like he had roid rage. That cop and those kids. the kids are defiant teenagers and the cop was obviously Mr tough guy coyboy style. Wow just Wow. I hope at a peer review the discharge him from service.
the officer should have written the sitation for being in volation of the city ordianance and maybe confisacted the skate boards. Arresting Children for skateboarding is rediculous.

i just saw somthing like this the other day wile in wayne i ride bmx . some friends and i were at goudy park riding when some cops rolled up they went right around us and arrested to 8 year old kids. when i asked them why they started being pricks. then he threatened to take my bike from me and my parents would have to come and get it. then i told him i was 23 and could pick it up my self and we left. but why arrest 2 8 year old kids. its just like the bmx vidio from masa cali. stupid we could be doing much worse thing. these are activities that keep kids from realy gitting into more trouble. ya some of these kids are drinking and smoking pot but there are many more that dont.

You are my brother, but you're wrong. When a cop tells you to do something you do it. I've been arrested a few times. When you act like an asshole you get treated like an asshole.
Fuck those stupid skate boarding kids. They were a bunch of smart ass kids trying to make that cop mad.

the cop may have used too much force for what the situation called for but those kids got what was coming to them. spoiled punk kids riding their skate boards down town. 99% of the time destroying public property.

they are little shits. Running makes it worse. Interfering with an officer while making an arrest makes it worse. Resisting arrest after you interfered with someone else makes it worse. Talking shit to the cop and just being a fucking idiot makes it worse. Bunch of fucking morons.

not true. I used to skate and did it for 10+ years and met more people that were more normal and didn't skate to cause trouble or to try and cause trouble then ones that did.

I want to know what prompted the officer to put the guy on the the ground in the first place. The police are claiming an ordinance for no skateboards in the city, and I'm pretty sure that included national skateboard day, or whatever it was.
I would have to think the kid must have done something, and from the sound of it, he tried to ride away from the officer, which is also against the law and an arrestable offense. And, if my gut feeling is right, which it probably is, this is what the kid was getting arrested for, not skateboarding, but fleeing from the police. These kids need to learn to listen to the police, even if they are dicks, because they have the power to really screw you.
And as for the other kids, they just kept following the cops around taking pictures and recording him until he just had enough. It seems most kids don't know enough to keep their mouths shut and I hope it is a learning experience for them, but I'm sure it won't. I'm sure the city will have to fork over a bunch of money because it looked bad on the tape, the kids will come out the other side scott free.
Now, do I agree that the officer should have handled it a little better? I can't say, I wasn't in his position. Even though they were only kids, he was out-numbered. And you have to put yourself in his shoes, if those skaters were just going to follow you around like that, they are liable to do anything. They have already proven they will disobey you, so IMO the only thing you can do is put them in cuffs for your own protection.

You don't know what happened before the tape was rolling. Unless the whole thing was recorded, it's hard to say if he went overboard. Alot of kids are punks these days & don't know when to shut their mouths.

I might have thought a bit diffrent if this 14-16 year old didn't rob me. He looked innocent enought, thought he was comng up to ask me a question, next thing i know i have a .40 in my face.
