The Tucker car was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

A very interesting automotive auction....


"John’s grandfather, Preston Tucker, introduced the first Tucker prototype in 1947 –
He then went on to build 51 cars in 1948. We are excited to offer at auction a
complete set of fiberglass body panels for the Tucker 48.

These panels appeared in the 1988 Movie: Tucker “The Man and His Dream”
Starring Jeff Bridges - Movie was directed by Francis Ford Coppola."

Very cool. I love those cars & that movie. There is one in a local car museum on my side of town. There's a guy in NJ who builds replicas from steel. I guess his dad was somehow tied into the Tucker company. The cars are called Ida Tucker 48.
 
I agree, B&H are now basically a "plus 10% premium" company.
That is on top of their already high prices. I have done very well
with them in the past, but like Golden & Moneypit, not good these
days.

I noticed B&H have fewer auctions these days as well. I have been
going to there auctions for 30 years and fewer each year now.

I refuse to pay a buyers premium,
I went to a auction and before the sale the sprung a 20% buyers premium of the crowd,
they were charging the family 30% so for every dollar they were making 50 cents
 
I was at their auction on Carpetner Rd in Milan (St. Patty's day 2015), and they tried to say a 1998 Honda ATV never had a title when new. Someone paid $3400 for it. With no title.
 
Auctions are great places to sell. They are LOUSY places to buy!!

Long story short: I have an original set of factory seat cover for a Tucker.
My great uncle ordered one in '48. They sent him the seat covers, but he never took delivery of the car. I wonder what they are worth???

An odd item (a good one) if ever there was.
Truly whatever someone is willing to pay for them.

Do you have the original paper work & box? Is it in
"mint" condition?

This is one of those items that needs a lot of exposer.
An auction with a lot of coverage, like Ebay is most
likely your best bet or one of the large classic car
auctions.

You also might want to go to the B&H auction and see
what some of that Tucker stuff they have goes for.

Do you have any idea how many of those seat covers Tucker
shipped to folks?

That's cool!! Mine are in mint condition. Deep red in color. Probably for the car pictured! They are not in the box, though.
$230 bucks? I'll keep them as a conversation piece for that much. I have considered donation them to a museum that HAS a Tucker.
