what do you think is better? s-trim or the D-1, im looking to 12 psi maybe up to 18psi, its for a 351w. thoughts and opions on both companies would be great. thanks...

well self oiled vs tapping the pan.

For around the streets they are about the same, i think when you start getting into the big bad bitches procharger is the way to go.

I have a vortech v1 strim, i like it.

IMO, that much boost you will want an intercooler..
The new v-3 is pretty cool, they are self contained..
All up to you, how much are you looking to spend?
You may want to find something other than a d-1, I know they have had some issues in the past..

My Vortech YS will be for sale this winter. Everything will be included. Let me know if you're interested. It's still on the car and will be until I put it away. Once it's up for the season everything comes off.

you will need the D1 for that much boost on a 351 the S trim will come up a bit short.

Going with the leaf blower huh?

well i heard better things about procharger before, i was seeing what people around here thought. thanks guys. i still need to do more research before spending the cash.

stock rods, crank, forged pistons, 8.5-1 compression. im prolly going to beef it up this winter, if i have the money.

the ysi is a really wierd blower. It seems to have a very narrow efficiency island and a huge parasitic power curve. It seems like that blower is an all or nothing type of blower.

If the 351 is fiarly healthy he might be better off with an f1.

But the YS will be perfect. :D

Yea, I've heard that the internals on the f1 are much beefier than those on the D1, specifically the, ball bearing(s) :icon_conf inside of them. If I recall correctly. It's been a while since I last about the two.

Both of these work great. The S-trim will do more than people give it credit for, and they can be found really cheap used. Davis (qwkslvr) went 9.60's with an s-trim on a 347cid engine. Back in the day I knew of a lightning that went 133mph with a big cube windsor and a little s-trim. It didn't make boost but it made power.

The D1 is strong also, Sago went easy 9s with a 327 ford and a D1, I think that one was 18psi or so.

For the 351, you'll need to make sure you have 351 style brackets for the vortech, if I remember correctly the d1 uses the same brackets for both?

I agree that you can get those small blower to perform quiet well but you really have to work them very very hard. This sets them up for fialure. I would rather go with the f1 over the d1. It can easily make 9sec power and leaves enough capacity to go faster down the road. Also it iwll last longer then a tottaly cranked S-trim.

Nice part is that the f1 vs the d1 is not a huge price increase during kit purchase time.
