Vortec 4200 I-6 Turbo IROC-Z

Thanks, it's perfect I guess. I can brake torque to 0 boost at 2600rpm before it spins the tires. Full boost immediately. No brake torque, just rolling on the throttle, it sees full boost about 15ft out. Just enough to let the car sit back on the tires. Works really nice, can't wait to try on a sticky track off the foot brake.

If it can crack 200bhp at the wheel with this turbo i will be happy it will be plenty for me thats for sure. but if i can find a td04hl 15g or bigger i will use that instead as it has the scope for more later if i m feeling brave

I think they do that without the turbo (????????)

Still driving it around as is... It's cranked 15psi for a while, a lot of 0-120mph pulls. I went a half turn down on the boost knob and I've been driving it around with a 13psi limit since last fall. No issues to speak of yet...

I dont really need more than 600hp(15psi).. The PCM is using a 1 bar MAP so I cant really go past 15psi, as the pcm won't know what to do with itself... The transmission is still happy (thanks Detroit Gearbox) also but I dont think it will appreciate anything more than 600hp.

Might make more passes when the cool weather hits, I have a new(er) set of 315/35/17 M/T Drag radials I'll slap on but I also want to try a 275/60 or 28" slick if my pal will let me try his set.

Thanks for asking! Oh, I cut the door bars out for comfort and I might rip the Koni yellow shock/struts out for Monroe's... These roads arent getting any smoother..

Go Bilsteins, still my favorite street/sport damper out there. VW, Trucks, Caprices.... never had an issue with them.

As for the build, im considering finally doing it. Been wanting to for years, like you, just to do something different. I may go manual trans though, so how is boost response with the 70mm? I was eyeballing 67-70 as well.

My old 70mm can feed 850hp and put a heavy car in the mid 9's... A modern one can feed 1000..

Turbo it for your HP goal and you'll be fine. It spools FAST with my 4000 stall at 15psi. It would not be ideal for a manual trans.
