vin location & getting a title

My dad was given a 43-46 chevy truck from the son of a friend who passed away, no title,cant find the vin, any idea where it should be? also if the vin isnt there will we be able to get a title???,its a decent project going RAT its on a s-10 frame, cab / front is good no bed or wireing,have to have a title to even think about starting it, would like my other half of the garage back i hate storeing something i cant use.
 
Contact the Sate Police. there is a procedure for a rebuilt vehicle you should be able to use in this instance.
 
license it as a scratch built or a kit car. you will need proof of assembly and it will have to go through the road worthy test (lights, wipers, horn, seat belts etc...)
 
dad told me yesterday i could have his 360 ,supposidly it came out of a high 10 sec gremlin ,just put it to good use,sounds like a MOPAR powered chevy in the works....need a trans, any one got a core or a unknown condition one takeing precious space in there garage???????????
 
Looking for a 904 or a 727 ? should be easy to find a 904 but the SB bellhousing 727 can be a tough trans to find at times.
