Victory Racing Engines BEWARE EVERYONE!!

I want to first say that I run a business that is Michigan based and that has been owned by my family for 50 years. We know how to run a business and I understand that you cannot make EVERYONE happy. Myself, I am an easy going person when it comes to having work done for me as I know how it is dealing with the public, maybe this was my undoing in this situation. Now with all that out of the way here is the story...

I drop my engine components off back in NOVEMBER (Ls3 block, rotating assembly, and misc parts) I was in no hurry for any of it and I made that clear. So a few months go by..... owner of Victory even stops in my store once, never says anything about my engine, I figured whatever no big deal. Another few months go by and I start to think about my parts sitting on there floor or possibly getting robbed for another project, So I start calling for a timeframe. I get "well ill have the engine builder call you" ok another two weeks goes by. I call again "O ure that guy we lost your info.. I say the owner knows where my shop is how could he not know how to get ahold of me???? but again, I say whatever and give it to them. Another few weeks go by. I call again leave a voicemail. I call back a week later leave two voicemails in the same day. NO call back!!! So I call again later in the day. Someone answers I express my displeasure for the lack of communication, He explains hes new. I cant get mad at the new guy so I just say ok so whats the story on my engine?? He goes and checks comes back and tells me "You never left a deposit with your parts" Im like wtf you have to be kidding me, nobody told me I needed to leave money on top of 3k worth of parts????? Besides its been there for 8 months and Ive called countless times and nobody mentions a deposit. At this point Im ready to explode I get the owner on the phone and ask him wtf the deal is??? He says "you called me on my cell I have no idea whats going on" I say dude you've had my engine for 8 months now you want a deposit??? Well yeah... I need a deposit to start. I think that is the biggest load of bull**** that I need to leave a deposit along with 3k of my **** for them to do nothing buy straight labor on my provided parts. Either way I agree ill pay a deposit he says he'll come by and get the money (that was last monday.) Well he finally SENDS somebody else to pick up the deposit and she doesn't know the deposit amount calls him and he tells her $1500 Im like am I paying in full or something, shes like no its going to be more. Im like they told me less then $1500 for the whole thing back 8 months ago. SO im like **** this I send my brother over to pick up my parts and In the mean time I call another local machine shop, I come to find out they are the machine shop that does a lot or all of the work for Victory. So that's who has my business now and they are alot more on top of things and wouldn't you know it they didnt need a deposit to work on my engine.

Thanks for letting me vent,
Nick

Wow, thats pretty much bullshit. Sounds like they need to get their shit together. Hopefully this other place does a good job for you

All in all, the only thing you lost was time and your temper.
Written detailed estimates are the only way to prevent such occurrences.

Live and Learn. I run a business and should've known better, It's just another example I have found out the hard way, You have to cover YOUR ass. I just laugh because if I did this to a customer, I would be on the news:thumbsup:

Nick,
How many engines have you built? How mabt cars? How many customers do you have that promised to pay but you are stuck with the vehicle?

Everything we do requires a deposit and as of last week you understood that, but today when I sent my wife TOO YOUR WORK to pick it up because I am out of town, The money was unavailable.

sorry to hear that they worked you like that... shady business practices don't go far in this world today.

I've had no problems with Victory... but I didn't leave my $3k worth of parts and say ... "call me whenever"

If I drop off anything to be worked on....... I want it back asap.

I take it you had no cash at the time? Or no place to store your parts?
Why not get it done sooner than later?

Bet you won't do that again, ever. Lesson learned as you said

BUT, how the fuck does it go for 8 months without any notification about a deposit?

What I keep thinking over i my mind, 8 months down the drain.

Ha you are going to make it seem like you did me a favor by sending your wife in to get my money, most likely because you were too big of a pussy to come yourself after fucking me out of 8 months, but dont you live just down the street from my shop??? That makes things worse you couldve stopped to get that deposit any day for the last 8 months. I brought my engine to you because you guys are supposed to be professionals, but I was WAY off there. What does how many engines Ive built have anything to do with it??? I actually have built a good amount of atv engines, two of which were turbocharged, snowmobile engines one of which puts down around 150hp, almost any kind of engine I have taken apart and reassembled, BUT this is an engine I want to be assembled by someone that has done them before, I have never done an LS engine and I dont want to learn on $3k worth of parts. Thats why I brought it to the supposed "Professionals" How you can even get on here and defend yourself is beyond me. It wasnt a matter of the funds not being available, It was a higher amount then I had been told and at that point I had enough of your shotty business skills. Dont think for one second you can come on here and discredit me after all your complete and utter dropping of the ball. AGAIN live and learn

O by the way, you guys owe me some main bearings still. SO add robbing parts out of customers sealed boxes to your list of business skills.

I am in Buford, Georgia so unfortinately stopping by the last couple days isn't possible. As far as you bearing I do appologize and was cought off guard about having your parts ready for pick up. My wife text me and said your brother was on his way for your parts. I am sure your bearings are in the shop but as I said we were cought off guard on getting everything together for pickup.

uh oh.I would of been hounding their ass after a month, 8 months with no work on the parts(and no contact) AND they used your parts on other jobs...:spank:

The job was quoted MONTHS before it was even dropped off and was done without notice. We received a box full of parts and that was about it. Every job we do requires a deposit and unfortunatelt Nick's job fell thru the cracks. He was notified of a deposit and agreed to having one picked up from Shore Trailer Rental. I unfortunately was unable to pick it up, but did send my wife to pick it up .

Formula17 is one of my best friends and as a fellow car guy I have been asking him what is taking so long on your engine. We talk all the time and he has told me that he has contacted Victory many of times and they deffinitly dropped the ball big time on this.

He dropped the engine off in November, and just now they are asking for a deposit - Kinda messed up if you ask me

We did not use his parts on another job. I was notified via text that his brother was coming ASAP to grab his parts. I pulled Matt out of the office to get his stuff together but we obviously missed something. I do apologize for missing a set of bearings in all of the ca motion.

I agree that his job slipped thru the cracks. It sat in the build pile and without a deposit was not started. He was notified and agreed to have a deposit picked up but reneged on that deal.

Thanks for the advertisement, but MY business has nothing to do with this story Eric. If the job was quoted why did the price change?? Your guy told me in the $12-$1300 range for the assembly and minor machine work of my brand new block and my provided parts. Then all the deposit crap Im figuring you need 5-800 to start that would be in the half down range. Your wife asks for 1500 as a deposit, I was caught way off guard by the drastic change in price as the $1500 was just a deposit so the total would obviously be more.
