Victor Jr Intake 302

I have an out of the box Victor Jr intake for an 8.2 302 and i pulled my motor apart and looked at the ports and they are way off, I have Victor Jr heads as well. My question is has anyone else delt with this and with this intake would i be better off port matching to the heads or having the whole intake ported, Ive heard the intake flows well into the 300s but ive never actually messed with one.

Vic jr out of the box has smaller ports because the majority of people have them matched to the heads. I had to have my Vic Jr matched to my GT 40 Aluminum heads. Out of the box that intake is only set up for stock gaskets (felpro 1250). Have it matched, you won't regret it. To get it to a 1262 gasket all you have to do is open the last few inches of the intake. If you need it larger a little more work will need to be done.

Thanks for all the input i just got some 1262s from summit so im gonna have it port matched and probably polish the rest of the intake, not too sure about the polishing but ive heard it helps

I wish, its a 347 with some victor jrs nuthin special. I have been toying with the idea of a windsor but funds are a bit tight right now.

Do not polish it to a shine, I rough surface actually acts as a buffer and increases the air speed and also helps to atomize the air fuel mixture. Having the whole intake ported may help a bit if you have a larger cubic inch engine. I wouldn't personally suggest going any higher than a 80 grit finish otherwise the fuel may just puddle.

Good point you think it would be best to just port match and leave the rest alone? Also what do you think about polishing the exhaust ports on the head? Worth it ?

Polishing WILL slow any fluid or air down compared to a slightly rough surface. I would suggest porting the intake a few inches up the runner to blend to the 1262's and maybe work the sharp edges at the base of the plenum.

Hah ive been trying like hell to sell it to him lol. But yea thats the way to go man a big ass turbo and a nice streetable motor you can drive anywhere and go real fast!
