Aaron - have you tried mocking up OEM cast valve covers yet? Not sure what look you're going for, but stock ones will likely clear. You may need to remove the baffle at the base of the filler neck on the OEM ones though...and possible grind out some of the internal ribbing in the upper corners. The nice part is that the low profile offers lots of clearance to nearly every long runner intake made.

Next time you stop over I can show you how I got mine to work with the AFRs & stud mount rockers (and a TFS-R intake).

sounds good. it sucks becuase i have a nearly brand new set of ford racing tall valve covers, black on red, and these 96 cobra valve covers i was really hoping to use but don't work.... its confusing because these valve covers worked on stock heads with the crane 1.7s

Yea, stock cast aluminum ones will clear FRPP 1.6 rr's with only a tiny bit of grinding/notching on the baffle near the filler. Not bad at all. The baffle comes out so it makes it a cinch.

I have a few sets of those cast covers...

I took 2 cork gaskets and spray glued them together. made a thick enough gasket to clear lots of lift and pro magnum rockers...

If you the aluminum rockers don't be to shy to grind the corner of the rocker a bit.
