Valve cover gasket question

Have a 97 Mustang with a recently rebuilt 4.6. Maybe 100, maybe 200 miles on the rebuild. Supposely used stock rebuild parts, just bumped up the cylinders .010. Has 6 lbs of boost via a SVO supercharger.

I put a breather air/oil separator on the drivers side because I seemed to be getting a lot of oil in the air intake.

On the passenger side the valve cover gasket got pushed out along the top, and I had it replaced. Now I'm told this new gasket was partially sucked in on the test drive.
Thoughts?

I don't currently have the car, hope to get it back Friday or Saturday.

2V or 4V?
Did someone from the shop who did the work tell you the gasket was "partially sucked in on the test drive"?

Most likely 2v. Im curious how the gasket got "sucked in" on the road test... With the limited space on these cars, valve cover gaskets are easy to fuck up upon installation. Im betting the tech hit the cam cap when installing it and didnt notice now the tech doesnt want to admit he made a silly ass mistake..

It's the 2V version. The shop that did the rebuild used rubber gaskets, and when I took it in to be worked on it was pushed out, and when the guy replaced it he said the replacement got sucked in. He's installing a different one and we'll see how that goes.

He seemed to think there was an awful lot of blow-by and wondered about the rings. How many miles before they typically seal?

Might take a bit. Any idea what pistons went in it and what the wall clearance was?

Yeah. Sounds like he screwed up the install and is strainin' to do the 'splainin'. Use quality parts and install them correctly = problem usually solved.
Excessive blowby CAN push out a rubber gasket. It will NOT suck it in!! The rings on production engines take almost no time at all to seat. Aftermarket stuff, when done properly, should be stable within 10 dyno pulls or 20 or so street miles.

Ugh. Drove it part way home tonight, heard a pop and the other valve cover gasket blew out. The smoke came under the car and through the interior as well, I looked like friggin' Cheech & Chong driving on the freeway.
I'm contacting the place that rebuilt it ASAP.

Good idea. That sounds like a lot of cc pressure man..
