I want to buy this 88 5.7l trans am but the guy says it won't start due to a vacuum problem seeing as I don't know jack about vacuum I was hoping you guys might be able to help me I think my main question is, is there a certain vacuum line that would cause this or could any random line be the culprit thanks in advance for any help

That's bullshit. A vacuum problem won't make an engine not run unless it's a bad intake gasket that already swallowed up coolant and hydro locked the engine.

A heavy vacuum leak can cause an engine not to start or make it backfire on startup. example a booster hose disconnected

But that's so stupid and easy to fix why would someone sell a car non-running with something so simple to fix and get more $ out of?

TPI ? Vaccum Issue ? 88 year engine should be a roller so doubt it is a wiped cam. could have a shited out timming chain.

I agree with the starting fluid. it should fire and run with enough fuel. (might not run well but will still run).
