i've never done this, but I have a 02 saab 93 that has a sticky cam chain tensioner causing a a rattle in the engine. I've never done anything like that, and wonder whats the best way to go about doing this. I was told to drain a quart out of the engine and add a quart of kerosene. Let it run for 10 minutes then drain it all out and fill it with new cheap oil with 1 quart of it trans fluid. Let it run for 15 minutes, then drain out and add regular engine oil.

or should I get one of those oil additives and drive it for a week?

Come to my store... I got some real good stuff that works... Dump it in... Let it run for a little bit and change the oil... All done...

I have done somthing like that In an old (1980) ford 4.9 and It worked fine.

Marvels Mystery Oil.Add a bottle to your current oil.Works wonders in the base for gummed up components.Run it for a week and then replace the oil and filter.

I just did this with trans fluid. Put a little under a quart in, drove around for a little and changed the oil. Cant really say it did anything, but supposedly it helps.
