Unique Shifter?

I just met a guy who had installed a shifter in his coupe unlike anything I'd seen before. He called it a Brooks CSE? Couldn't find anything about it online, so I thought any experts on here might be able to tell me how it works. Looks like maybe four speeds and reverse? Pic below
