Underbody Rust

Have a 2002 Trans Am, want to catch the rust before it spreads and gets real bad on the underbody. Already a few areas it has started to form.

What do you guys suggest, sand blast or just buy Bristle Disk? That's what Eastwood recommends. And then just use the Rust Encapsulator.

From what I hear, never done sandblasting before, but I'm sure my garage would be a mess afterwards. And I hear it would be really hard to see without a air filtration system like a pro shop. And media blasting can be very expensive right?

Or would you guys suggest taking it to restoration shop to just rust proof the underbody? What do they usually charge?

Any input, I would really appreciate.

Do NOT openly sandblast in the garage, you'll majorly regret it. Hell, even doing it outside is rather unpleasant.

Personally, I'd take it to a body shop, show them the areas you're concerned about, and have them blast/coat it.

I have someone I can recommend who would be pretty reasonable (IMO) for something like this and does nice work.

PM me the info Birdie2000, thanks. I hope it's a reliable shop and not some person, when it comes to trust I'm vary wary of some person working out of his home.

I used the search and Reiters came up. Might give them a call and see what they say.
