UBER - Who uses it?

From my experience, pick up times in the suburbs are usually 10-15 minutes. Downtown is usually half that. A one way trip is $35-$40 from Rochester Hills to Detroit, I believe. It's been a while since I've heard though.

My wife's grandfather is 86 and still teaches at Wayne State. He's not comfortable driving in most situations, so he had been using Uber to get to/from the school. He's started using private companies that are a little less expensive but use your car and had previously developed relationships with some of the Uber drivers so he'd just call them directly and they'd know his schedule (roughly) and charge him a little less, too.

Here is my short Version update!

Used UBER from my house (22mi and Heydenreich - to Down Town Dime Store Restaurant) at Noon
- Booked trip and he was in my Driveway in 9 min (Cost $32) with brand new Chrysler 200. Cool Driver, car was immaculately clean and he played good tunes!
Used LYFT on the way home (Lafayette Coney Island - Back home) at 2am
- Booked it as we payed our bill at Lafayette and he was waiting at the door as we walked out in Chevy Malibu (cost was $64). Driver was a bit strange with some different in-sense air freshener and played some odd Trance Music but we made it home safe to a home where there were no kids or sitter :beerchug:!

So in short it cost $96 round trip.
We did not drive our own vehicle downtown worrying about parking or driving home after a few drinks! Def will do it again, little spendy on the way back being prime bar time. Very convenient for sure....

Example pricing.
West Bloomfield to Detroit Airport leaving at 5pm on a Saturday. $39.34. Rode in a BMW. Lyft
Return trip on the following Saturday at 11:40am. $60.63 in a Toyota Highlander. Uber.
It's vastly better than parking offsite at an airport, taking a shuttle, etc.
This is door to door service.
I've used both services several times to get back/forth to social engagements where alcohol might be involved. Usually under $20. Don't have to worry about losing your license or killing a family on your way home. You also get to enjoy yourself more as you get to focus on fellowship and not the eventual return trip.
