Travis Pastranas New Years Eve Jump

He's indestructible right up until he dies. He won't be a middle aged man, let alone an old man, he's already have issues just walking.

You can only tempt fate so many times. I don't necessarily think this time is his time, but one of these times he will push it too far, or something freaky will happen.

I can't even begin to imagine how he feels. I broke my back racing motocross when I was 16 (24 now) and I can barely move some days. He probably needs viagra to stand up straight....in more ways than one!

partial injury list

In 1998 at a Triple Crown event in Lake Havasu, when he was 14-years-old, he jumped a 120-foot ramp and came up short. In the process of the crash he rag dolled and separated his spine from his pelvis, which put him in the medical books and left him in a coma for two weeks. It also left him in a wheel chair for three months. “I was in and out of consciousness for about three days and had six blood transfusions,” says Pastrana. He also adds that according to doctors only three people in the U.S. have ever lived after this kind of injury. “I don’t remember most of the injuries there have been so many.” His laundry list includes: the dislocated spine, in his left knee he’s torn his ACL, PCL, LCL, MCL, his bucket handle meniscus, broken his tibia and fibula, he’s had surgery on his left wrist twice, left thumb once, two surgeries on his back, one on his right elbow, nine on his left knee, six on the right knee, one shoulder surgery which left him with the only piece of metal he has in his body.

x2 - i still feel my broken wrist from 6 years ago too, cant imagine a broken back... my back is already a piece of crap.

People are just wired differently. I get nervous when I walk out the door...any new experience scares the crap out of me. I hate adrenaline, and he can't seem to get enough of it.

me and some buddies were talking about this same thing the other night.

as gay as it might sound, Travis Pastrana is one of my heros like some of you older guys had evil knievil.

some of the stuff Travis does is absolutely insane. you can tell he honestly has no fear, and that mentally he can take just about anything. for example, in that video of the rally car, i bet they are going damn near 80 mph in a rally car, and travis makes a mistake and the car rolls over MULTIPLE times...probably like 10. he asks his partner "are you alive?" he says hes fine and travis goes......"woooooooooooohoooooooo that was a HELL of a ride!" not scared one bit.. its completely insane.

as far as what jdustu is talking about. travis IS going to severly hurt himself one day. or even worse...kill himself. and im going to hate to see that day. but lets face it. its going to happen. and you can tell he doesnt mind, for example that BASE jump in the 199 lives trailer, "if for some reason i dont make it to the bottom, i died HAPPY" and does a backflip off a cliff, doesnt think twice about it. or when he jumped out of a plane with no parachute anywhere near him. he completely put his life in another guys hands. if they dont catch him or strap him in right...hes dead. period.

this new years jump scares me, its not the distance...its the water. hes gonna be strapped in the thing with 5 million seat belts, and its going to have a cage. if he shorts it, or misses the landing the car is going in the water and hes gonna have to be able to get out. what if he gets knocked out?

i have seen just about every pastrana video out there (if you know of some rare ones by all means tell me) and i will watch them, over and over again. the guy is amazing. there is another one called lock and load thats pretty cool. i will post it.

are people born with nuts as big is his or do you have to do something to get them?

It comes with a price though... he has night terrors so bad that he usually only gets 4hrs of sleep a night! I believe the night terrors is his brains sub-concious way of dealing with the fear of doing the stunts

travis also thinks he is skitzophrenic (sp?) it really freaks his friends out. and people say he has a hard time keeping girlfriends because of it.

That was pretty freaking awesome

He was in the air forever. The back flip off the ramp into the water was cool too

Cool jump.
Now they need to go back to backflipping a car or truck, and stick the landing.

how horrible that he takes LIFE for granted.

he needs to read the book Dr. G medical examiner just put out about
"How not to Die".
