Travis Pastranas New Years Eve Jump

Who is going to watch TP's New Years Eve WRX jump on at 11PM on ESPNHD?

WHO: Red Bull: New Year. No Limits.

WHAT: Travis Pastrana's attempt to shatter the world distance record for jumping (and successfully landing) a rally car over 200 feet, ramp to ramp. The catch? Pastrana will be launching his car over a giant stretch of water and onto a floating barge out in the Pacific. Read that again.

WHERE: Long Beach, California.

WHEN: On Thursday, December 31, immediately following the Chick-Fil-A Bowl (approx. 11:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. PT). Viewing of Pastrana's jump will be free to the thousands of revelers in downtown Long Beach.

When it comes down to it, there isn't much Travis Pastrana hasn't done. The 26-year-old multi-sport superstar was a freestyle motocross champion at 14, a Supercross champ at 15, and a Rally America champion at 23. Did we mention he landed the first-ever double backflip on a dirt bike (age 22), jumped out of an airplane sans parachute (age 24), and became the star of his very own show on MTV (age 25)?

Topping his previous accomplishments won't be easy, but Pastrana is still hungry. His jump on New Year's Eve may go down as his biggest and baddest of all time ... until next year, when he attempts to top himself yet again. The current world record for a rally car jump stands at 171 feet, set by Pastrana's rally competitor and main sponsor Ken Block, co-founder of DC Shoes. Pastrana is poised to not only break Block's record, but to shatter it — over a large expanse of ocean.

In headlining the Red Bull: New Year. No Limits event, Pastrana will follow in the footsteps of fellow motorsports athletes Robbie Maddison and Rhys Millen, who rang in the last two New Year's Eve celebrations by pushing their physical, mental and technical limits to break boundaries and records, in front of thousands of fans in Las Vegas and millions of viewers on ESPN.

I like this video. The comments from his buddies are pretty funny, especially his dad at the end.

It may sound insane, but this is probably safer and more civilized than half of his dirtbike stunts. The car may be destroyed, but even in the practice jumps he crashed and got out of the car without a scratch. We are talking about TP. He is indestructible. Have you seen that 199 movie? He should be dead 100x over.

He's indestructible right up until he dies. He won't be a middle aged man, let alone an old man, he's already have issues just walking.

You can only tempt fate so many times. I don't necessarily think this time is his time, but one of these times he will push it too far, or something freaky will happen.
