You will probably need to upgrade a few parts. You will probably have problems with the sprag, planetaries, and possibly the sun gears. But, the biggest problem with the AODE is lubrication. The AODE uses a forced lube design of output shaft. This system uses line pressure to supply lubrication to the rear portions of the transmission via the drum snout. This passage in the AOD/AODE transmission is somewhat small (Ford increased the diameter of this passage on the 4R75W). In high demand situation (IE, drag racing or whatever) you run the risk of damaging components. In these situations, direct drum splines can wear quickly which can cause the direct shaft (lockup shaft) to make contact with the tip of the output shaft effectively cutting off lubrication the the rear portion of the transmission Relatively quickly this will damage the planetaries, sun gears, and bushings. There are upgrades that a high performance transmission builder can do to alleviate this condition. But, it is too much to try to explain here. Bottom line is, the transmission can hold it for a little while but eventually it will break. Hope that helps!
