Trans fluid situation issue concern

I had a C4 rebuilt by a member who is held I high reguard by a good number of members. I changed the converter this past weekend on a hoist. The first thing my friend (who was helping me, and the car was on his hoist )
said was...... You had this rebuilt? It's leaking from everywhere.... I couldn't argue that, as it is and has ever since I got I back. So we drain a little fluid out of the pan, into a freshly cleaned open style drain pan. I didn't know i was possible to have that much material in fluid!!! Mind you the trans has ZERO passes on it and very little street miles. Is it normal for there to be that much? The shifter is adjusted correctly, not sticking in gears, manual valve body. Has a remote mounted cooler with it's own dedicated cooling fan.

I had mentioned selling the trans before, and got a TON Of pm's asking for a price, but THIS is what I was afraid of the whole time. I'd feel like total shit if I had got a phone call describing what I've seen after the sale. If the concensus is to just run it and keep a ton of rags and kitty litter on hand, that's what I'll do, or if most think I should pull it back out and have a professional look at it, I'll do that.


What do you think? And why?

You can say i did it. You can even trash me if you'd like (like that's never happened). There might be a problem with it. Do you have pix of the pan? I'm more than willing to try and help, but you won't let me. I'll even repair it at your house so you can watch if you'd like.
 
I sh*t my pants when I took the trans pan off my c4 with about 30 miles on it.
Is it a paper filter or a wire mesh type filter? Anyway mine was ok shifts fine.
I just wanted to change the fluid while I was replacing the TQ seal.
My trans is not from Mike.
 
Just out of curiousity did you call Mike prior to making this thread?




I know if I had someone do work for me an for any reason I had questions, I would call that person first prior to making something public knowledge that might have not needed to be at all. Just incase there was a miss-understand or (being honest with myself) if I straight up didn't know. [which in this case i don't I'm no trans builder... but Mike is]

What happen to professionalism/ gentlemens common courtisy?
 
Seems ridings is more then happy to take care of it for you.......I would take him up on it, and everything is solved...No problems.
 
Mike has always taken care of me. I know he is a busy guy, but is honest. Mistakes can happen we're all human.

I used to work in a trans shop (manager) and i can tell you the best thing to do is let Mike make it right. Everybody likes to point fingers at the poor trans guy but a lot of times its' faulty parts or one misplaced check ball or spring that can easily make things go wrong.

And a new trans typically does show some clutch material on the magnet the first time the fluid is changed. It's like when you get brake dust when you put new brakes on your car. They have to wear in just like clutch materials do.

I hope you guys get it all worked out. :)

no i didnt, couldnt get the light to shine on it right, and i only had my cell phone camera.

whatever filter mike put in it. i am not sure

he had the trans 3 or 4x i cant remember. lost count. was beyond calling, was looking for outside input.

dont talk about professionalism/gentleman's courtesy, when you HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE of the back story. but of you feel the need to question my professionalism or gentleman's conduct, please pm me directly.

im not pissed any more. i just want a trans that doesnt leak. i was BEYOND fair and understanding and professional and gentlemanly and didnt post any of this when i was pulling the trans out 3x cause it was leaking.

i know he has taken very good care of a bunch of members here. gone WAY out of his way for a few.

thanks for the input. i appreciate it

short story. trans had a leak, on recommendation of JQ, i gave to mike, price was fair, timeline was fair. i offered to drop off and pick up. but mike insisted on doing both. got it back, still leaked. called him, said he would take care of it, repeat step 1.... i pulled it back back out. and thought shit, why not just have him go though it, replace whats worn, then i have his total unit, he has to take it all apart to rebuild. no short cuts. bought a input shaft, and a couple other upgrades....got it back..... still leaking..... to this day. tail shaft, rear seal, trans brake solenoid, pan is constantly soaked. only place it doesnt leak is from the pump!!! go figure!

i never posted any of this while it was going on...is that not fair? professional? gentlemanly?

i am gonna try to get it back on a lift and take it back out. then i will get ahold of mike. getting it to the hoist involves about 6 hours of driving back and forth, getting trailer, car, shop, car, home, trailer back blah blah blah
