Track Wheels on my 04 Cobra

As far as other rules go a thought just came to mind. What about an extremely fast street car that will not pass tech at milan? My Chevelle will never see a cage or other things to make it legal at Milan eventhough it sure needs it? Once they hear it I cannot say...uhhh 13's to the tech guy.
it can always make ONE pass...and with the changes you dont need a roll bar for running 12's
:nervous:

Its been proved street and strip are two different worlds. I say we hold the competition on the street to really be fair. The truth of the matter who cares about the number game because that is really irrelevant in the end for a street cruiser. Its who gets to see the other persons bumper just like NO ET.

I am hoping to run at least low 13's...maybe...
:)

That's a bit optimistic! LOL Dude, I cant' wait to see that monster pull a number!

I would think a best of three runs or average of the three. I was thinking about the cars here on MM that may go a tad faster than 12's.

No thanks. I'm too old for that nonsense. You can set that up whenever you want.

I'm interested in a motown true steet race, count me in.

I'm 56 miles from the track so I will be trailering and willing to do the 30 mile cruise. I do have an issue with the safety equipment as I only have a six point bar so technically it can only run 9.90's or slower. I'm still on the fence with people with a halo that drive on the street.

This should be alot of fun next year.

+1 to the OP

jim, that is true too....how many times have we seen 800 hp dyno queens run high 11's and some low 400hp cars run faster . I know I was in the low 11's with only 400hp...but my car really doesnt shine until way past the 1000ft mark. On the street and weaker (slower 1/4 mile car) will hang with me...at the track though....different story

I am right every once in awhile Dom. The true test is the driveability and reliability of the car. It took a little time to get both of my cars to handle the heat of a car cruise and feel comfortable to drive for hours cruising and still race here and there on the street without breaking unlike alot of other fast cars. They are due to break soon is my guess LOL.

Ill be down for that!

This CAN happen for sure!!!!

The last couple years I've been the lead car for the True Street cruise for NMRA. There is a pretty good route with back country roads, stop and go traffic and some highway. If I can manage to get my car done this year, I'm down for sure. (I've only got a 6 point so 10.000000000 is the quickest I can go).

You could actually do this before NO ET and then once everyone proves they make the ride and drive, you could do a heads up ladder with no timeslips just like they did the last SB Nitrous shootout.

I would be down for this with my GN for sure. But like Greg said, there are more than a couple 7 second cars that could go 30 miles. I think just like NMRA True Street, the only way to keep the big dogs out is to keep the payout really small so they don't bother wearing out their shit for a few dollars.

i will do just for bragging rights!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may want to enter both of my cars in case one breaks.....Can I have someone drive the 30 miles in one and I race them both?

Doesnt true street also break it down as far as times go also? I mean theres no point for someone with a 11 second car to even think about entering it if theres 7,8,9 second cars playing in the same game. Maybe we could divide it up into 7 second car, 8 second cars, and so on? Provided there are enough cars willing to take part. Just a suggestion.

Yeah but it's pretty gay the way true street does it. They give prizes for the quickest car in every "bracket". So basically you end up with all the 10 second cars trying to run 11.0s in order to win.

This should just be a heads up shootout for real street cars IMO.

AGREE........i know my car isnt the fastest or the slowest...but heads up is the way to go...

I understand. I know very little about the True street setup but i figured thats what people probably do. I guess the rules would really be the important thing. Tire size? power adder? You could also do something like a stick shift bracket? or a "factory transmission"? Something to weed out the racecars. Just throwing out options to keep the slower guys in the playing field also.
