So my buddy has a 14 GT 500 and tried to sign up for this Michigan Mile event but it was sold out. Anyone know of any other michigan based places you can safely run a car 180mph +?

Lol sounds like michigan has its own autobahn. What I mean by safe is a event with no ticket and a closed off airport. I guess at those speeds the cops would just say f-it.

DBK has the hookup on airport runways, send him 458 PM's.

Us poor folk go to Milan and run on the 1/4 of a mile. :) It's pretty universal.

If your buddy can afford a '14 GT500, he can afford a trip to Texas World Speedway for a top end run. Of course if he loses it, insurance doesn't cover it.

Ya I guess he ran it up to 160 last Thursday on the way to St Ignace and wants to go faster. As far as going to Texas he doesn't have time for that, he owns and operates his own Mustang restoration business. He has to be one of the most hardcore mustang enthusiast out there.

If he's already gone 160 on the interstate, 180 on a runway isn't gonna be worth a big trip. Without reference points, going 220 mph on a runway isn't terribly exciting. It's fun to say you've done it, and fun the first couple times you do it, but it gets old pretty quick. You're not gonna hit much more than 180 at a mile event in a lightly modded GT500 either, and to really notice a difference in speed by going 200+, you'd have to truck all the way to California and hit the 1.5 mile shit in Mojave.

Also, Texas World Speedway is a road course, not a runway.

Has anyone other than Ford gotten a stock GT500 above 200?

When Hot Rod was doing a bit on it, they didn't think there was any place in the US it could happen(at least on a track)....

what have they been on the 5 mile oval at ford?

Yeah, they did it at Nardo. I have no idea if anyone else has done it. Small changes in air can make a pretty big difference right on top of the vMax. I'm not sure what a stock GT500 would do in the mile, but my guess is maybe 170, and I'm sure it's a brick to push through the air once you shift to 5th.

This is just stupid...:shake:
