I just snapped a fork off a ball joint separator. WTF :icon_hamm

So anyone break anything stupid like this lately? I know my hammer is about to snap in half too.

I think I have ruined more tools..well cant say ruined when I had to modify them to fit around things. Making stubbies out of standard 10mm wrenchs...lol

Someone just asked me about doing new struts on a car all the way around, I told them nope. I dont even like doing that on my own stuff.

Cheap tools break.
After being in the repair industry for close to 30 years, I have never broken a expensive tool. Only the cheap ones.
I will back up just a bit. I have broken sockets & screwdrivers.

Fork usually damages the boot. These do not. Also. The quick way is to hit the side of the knuckle and the usually pop right out

Its a DSM. There is never a quick way. My transfer case is seized to the output shaft, which the trans decided to let slide out, and there is an oil pan in the way.

But I am definitely gonna buy that ball joint tool. Just being able to not replace the ball joints everytime they are apart pays for itself.

You can get a very similar ball joint tool at Harbor Freight if you need it right away. I think it's about $25.
