so yeah.. for those of you on the east side that can relate.. back in the day, say like 14 yrs ago for me, skate world was the ultimate hangout.. well. i decided tonight to get a few people, do some drinking and then hit up the 18+ skate from 8:30 to 10:30 tonight at the old stomping grounds hahaha.. it will be funny after so long, but what better to do on a wed night :)
 
Sounds like fun. I haven't been there in many years. I grew up just down the street from Skate World and was on their speed team many moons ago.

haha yes i have insurance, and no i dont plan on falling :) actually i was thinking of swinging thru the pro shop when i get there and picking up a pair of those riedell carerra speed skates HAHA
 
That's what I used to have. :)

If you haven't been skating in a while you might want to pick up a box of gel / pressure pads to help avoid blisters.

I went about 2 years ago for my nieces bday. My brother worked at skateland west growing up and i practically lived there, did the speed skating garbage etc haha Hadn't been on skates in probably 8 years or so and jumped right back on them like i'd never stopped

lol i was scooping kids up that were falling left and right, did some of the boogieing on the skates and still went backwards haha. Made it all night with no falls.. my brother on the other hand got taken out by my one of my little cousins at the very end of the party haha
 
well here are the results from last night.. I learned a few things...

1. I'm no longer "the shit" at rollerskating

2. rental speed skates, pretty much blow

3. skateworld has not changed, literally NOT CHANGED ANYTHING in like 15 years.. that place is old and crappy now.

4. figure skaters LOVE going to skateworld on adult night, to display their twirling and kicking moves to the masses.

5. They don't have races on adult night. And if they did, i would surely not when any these days haha

6. Pretty much the only way to make a skating rink COOL at my age, is to drink heavily in the parking lot before hand, and even that almost didnt work :)


I pretty much wont be going back for another 12 years.. if ever lol
