To Protect and Serve...

It wasnt a chase.

He never tried to flaunt him being in the NFL to get a free pass.

WTF would any of you do if your mother or mother in law was dying? Shit what do you do if your wife is pregnant and in labor? I sure as hell aint stopping for a red light.

I can understand being irritated that they didnt stop immediately, but when you walk up to the car and someone says their mother is dying inside the hospital....when the guys wife tries to get out in order to get to her own damn mother, you're an ass hole for still trying to talk about a red light(where no one was put into danger).

That cop cant give back those few minutes before the woman died. Just like if i was trying to get to my kids birth, he cant give back the moments of me seeing him come into this world. The ticket can wait if its that big of deal. Shit take their id and stay by their vehicle until they return if its that big of deal.

Thats a fucked up story. The cop shouldnt lose his job, but he should be suspended without pay.

He was an ass. Their mom DID die, period.

What an asshole.

Whats so hard about saying, "Ok, lets go inside."?

this was actually AT the hospital. the nurses came out to get the guy and everything. and the cop still wouldn't let him go!

ahhhhhhh im thinking they werent even at the hospital yet. Just close.

So you're a cop. Someone goes through a red light with caution after stopping to look.....you turn on your lights and they keep driving into a hospital and you guys think its a chase?!

LOL The cop should have been thinking something was wrong. I would have assumed there was a pregnant woman inside the truck or something.

People are screaming about a dying mother, nurses come out, and you still hold the guy.

Fuck that. Fuck that cop. Good cops seem to be the minority now a days!

I love how you guys who are defending the officer are literally disagreeing with the chief of police who reviewed the tape personally.

This is what drives me nuts. The chief of police is a guy who obviously is hoping and wishing that his officer did the right thing, and even he knows that it was bullshit. He is also that guy that reviewed the tape that none of you get to see. And you STILL think there may be "another side to the story" or a good reason of this behavior. What a joke that is. You people are ignorant.

Found more on profootballtalk.com Raj. Doesnt look like it's the entire tape, but it's most of it.

+1 (next time I can)

WTF? Did I just agree with you??? ;)

First of all, The dude NEVER played the "do you know who I am" card.

The race issue was brought up later, and the way it's quoted it seems like it was more of an answer to a reporter's question than a declaration of racism.

Let's see, white cop acts like a douche to a black family. Then even after another cop, a black cop, explains the situation to the white cop, he STILL doesn't let him go. LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR: I'm NOT saying racism was involved, but you can't help but have it "cross your mind".

The cops superiors come out and say Moats handled himself beyond reproach , that the cop was in the wrong, and people still want to defend the jackass?

To everyone who said he should have just pulled over, or that he should have stayed in the car: I'm guessing you've been pulled over before. I know I have, probably at least a dozen times. It takes anwhere from 2-5 minutes, if not longer, for the cop to get to your window. The dude's wife's mom was literally taking her last breaths, and you want the family to wait in the vehicle?

Give me a fucking break. I personally think Moats handled the situation perfectly. Sometimes I think guys on this board live in a fucking fantasy world that doesn't exist.

In my opinion the whole situation could have been handled better on both parts. What I find amazing is how everyone thinks the Officer is wrong and should be fired. Both parties were flexing their Cop/NFL muscles. Unless you have been in either of their shoes I don't really think you understand the whole picture of that type of incident. It is easy to sit here on the computer and say what you would have done, or what the Cop/NFL player should have done. Again I think the whole situation could have handled better by both people. Just my .02 cents

the cops right all he had to do was stop and tell him what was going on instead of keep driving, then the attitude with the cop dont help.

the guy could have just called the police station and they probably would have had a car escort him to the hospital

Show me where the NFL muscles were flexed.

The cop is level headed and just at another day at work. The family with the dying mother is FARRRRRRR from level headed and i think its unreasonable to say "hey....u guys should have thought this through a little more". No one is perfect in those type of situations. The cop should have done better....especially after realizing the stress they were under. He didnt have to hear any stories to be thinking that these people needed help...but he wasnt there to assume positive. He assumed negative. And was stuck on negative.

My fault, I should have said both parties were being hard headed and did not want to give in. But in the Officers defense, he did not know why they were not stopping, was there a gun in the car, dope, or possibly the car was stolen?

umm... if i get a call saying my mom is moments away from death, i'm not calling and waiting for a fucking police escort.

give me a break.

So a dying family member gives you the right to put others in danger? I'm not saying I wouldn't, but never the less it's still breaking the law.

it is, and i never said the guy didn't deserve a ticket. besides, it's not like i would be blowing through red lights like in the movies. i have been there and done this less than a year ago so i know EXACTLY how that guy and his family felt.

fuck that cop.

Shit what do you do if your wife is pregnant and in labor?

I would prabably call an ambulance, they have sirens and lights for that. Seems to me that endangering the lives of the passengers in the car is not the brightest thing in the world, even if he did look first. I've seen it work in the movies but I'm not brave enough to try it in real life, but to each his own.

To go against my original post, the cop could have gone into the hospital to verify the story, then written the ticket if he had to give them one. I still htink he'd been had before on bullshit excuses and didn't trust them.

it was AT THE HOSPITAL!!! the nurses came out and everything.

I think this is the ful video, it's 16 minutes http://www.wfaa.com/video/featured-index.html?nvid=345766

So I've already seen this on the news once, and then watched it again online, but I am now watching it for a 3rd time and I just paused this link @ 40secs.

At this point, what if there is a 1 year old infant that is having an allergic reaction to something and is tuning blue / almost dead?

If someone jumped out running (holding the baby) the way the cop approached the woman and the tone / attitude I could see him threatening to shoot someone.

Tow the car for no insurance? Really? Wow....

'Shut your mouth', ' I can take you to jail for running a red light'

You make your point tough guy!

'Shut your mouth, and listen', ' I can screw you over', 'I can charge you with fleeing', 'I can make your life very difficult'

7:30 mark:

The person dies, and needs the man(Moats) inside for approval. Did they tell him? ??

8:30 I hear a phone ring?

9:30 Small talk with another officer?

12:00... still nothing?

12:30 nurse comes out, says she dieing and to get him up there right now.
12:50 Office says, "Alright, I'm almost done." Are you fucking kidding me?

13:30 'More than Likely I would have let you go' LMAO! Yeah ok buddy!

13:40 Nurse is pretty much saying, the person is on her last breath and the cop is still playing the "Typical Pig, Ill get the last word in" bit.

What a crock... that is, as the DPD put it, 'embarrassing' at the least.

It is breaking the law. But the cops' boss went on the air and said he expects his cops to use better discretion in that type of situation. Moats even said he'd be fine with a ticket, but at least wanted to be allowed to see his mother in law.

Seriously, what the hell is there to argue about? The Dallas department came out and admitted they were wrong. They basically praised Moats as being not the least bit in fault.

I can't believe that people are still posting saying that Moats should have handled this differently. Oh wait, yes I can.... people are idiots.
