To Protect and Serve...

Does the anger come from getting pulled over for DWB in Livonia? :D

I'm just showing the other side of the coin. Plus I'm on crack right now.

A sheltered life  How many times have you been to jail? I'm pretty sure I have you beat. Sheltered life

No dude it just drives me nuts when people think the "right thing" to do is always defend the police when things like this happen. When I grew up I was always taught that the police were the good guys. I had to learn over the years that they sure as hell are not necessarily the good guys. They are supposed to be, and some of them are, but it's foolish and ignorant to go on the assumption that the police are always right in any given confrontation. They are just people like everyone else, there are good men and bad men in every job.

I dont blame the cop for trying to do his job. But everything here is very relative... There are certain circumstances where the law may need to be a little flexible... Like your Dying Mother.

While I can understand the cop would be pissed they ran a red light and didn't stop that quickly, you have to have a certain level of compassion for people in a time of need.

Very true!

In Milan, you can get pulled over on the way to a
funeral and once the cops understand that - you're
on your way, with no ticket!

How long did he drive with the police behind him?
When they arrived they all scattered.

I wonder how the situation would have turned out if the driver had
pulled over, stayed in the vehicle and explained the situation.

I love how you guys who are defending the officer are literally disagreeing with the chief of police who reviewed the tape personally.

This is what drives me nuts. The chief of police is a guy who obviously is hoping and wishing that his officer did the right thing, and even he knows that it was bullshit. He is also that guy that reviewed the tape that none of you get to see. And you STILL think there may be "another side to the story" or a good reason of this behavior. What a joke that is. You people are ignorant.

cop was way wrong!!!!!

No one ever pulls over at the exact moment lights go on..

and you a fool if you think someone is going to take time in that type of situation....

the cop picked the wrong time to try to "flex" his muscles...

and he should be in trouble supended with no pay.. Or something along that line..

and why are you stating that he was a nfl player? He never did..

After watching the video, it appears that the suspect was being a ass. And probably could have gotten off if he had simply cooperated.

There's about 13 minutes of video out there.

I'm not saying the cop handled things well, but the driver
didn't seem to help himself .

both the cop and the guy should have handled it alot better, only difference is that the cop gets paid and trained to handle a situation like this much better, and when the cop kept telling him "Shut Your mouth" over and over again, it goes ot show the cop had nothing more than point to prove, and for that he should get some pretty serious discipline.

They were talkin about this on 97.1 this morning

My thoughts...he still blew a red light, and didnt pull over, so he shouldve assumed the cop was going to come up on the offensive. He shouldve pulled over when the cop put the lights on and explained that theyre on the way to the hospital and that it was an emergency, he probably wouldve gotten an escort. Running from the cops after blowing a light is a sure way to piss off a cop.
Dying Mother In laws are not get out of jail free cards, you are not allowed to endanger the general public and potentially kill someone else on the road because youre too late to get to the hospital for your mom whos dying of cancer(which you prob knew the end was near days in advance)

+1
Just because he's a NFL player he's allowed to blow stop signs?
Stupid fucker is lucky he didn't get shot!...Now the cop was playing big man behind his badge but that was just his adrenalin kicking in.
I was just talking to my buddy who is a Detroit cop and when he gets into a chase (foot or auto) his gun is always drawn out.

Sorry but i have been in that situation. and there is no calm way to handle it. Your not thinking clearly.... In my case the state cops where awsome! Even gave us goahead and me his pack of smokes when i came back out there..

Oh and I'd like to see the way you guys would act in that situation if you were trying to get your wife to her mother who's about to die.

:hmm::rolleyes:

First of all, The dude NEVER played the "do you know who I am" card.

The race issue was brought up later, and the way it's quoted it seems like it was more of an answer to a reporter's question than a declaration of racism.

Let's see, white cop acts like a douche to a black family. Then even after another cop, a black cop, explains the situation to the white cop, he STILL doesn't let him go. LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR: I'm NOT saying racism was involved, but you can't help but have it "cross your mind".

The cops superiors come out and say Moats handled himself beyond reproach , that the cop was in the wrong, and people still want to defend the jackass?

To everyone who said he should have just pulled over, or that he should have stayed in the car: I'm guessing you've been pulled over before. I know I have, probably at least a dozen times. It takes anwhere from 2-5 minutes, if not longer, for the cop to get to your window. The dude's wife's mom was literally taking her last breaths, and you want the family to wait in the vehicle?

Give me a fucking break. I personally think Moats handled the situation perfectly. Sometimes I think guys on this board live in a fucking fantasy world that doesn't exist.
