Tired of 4l60/665/70 breakage ? Finally a affordable solution

Here is the new High Energy Band for the Overdrive. This unit is better for street use then Kevlar.

Sean, what is the cost??? and how much does it weigh and how much power will it handle (guesstimate)? I want to go automatic on my Turbo car

How built do you want it ?

$600 converter 9.5 with lock up single disk. All you need really.
$225 for the bell housing
$400-500 for core 4r70w
$300 for Machine Work Adapt Bellhousing and Case
$550 labor overhaul unit
$ ???? what type of valvebody
$500 upgraded Clutchs,High Energy Band 8 pack.

Manual VB is $350 T-Brk Valvebody is $850.

We can also use the upgraded 300m "$200" stub shaft and there are some other parts that can be upgraded for severe service.

The basic build we use should be good in a 3200lb car well into the low 9's easily. Thats without any trick parts and using the right core. We stuff more frictions into the foward and Direct clutchs and upgrade the band. Also inspect any and all parts for wear and replace ones as needed.

for a complete unit with converter your looking at $3525 with transbrake. Obviously depending on how you option the trans it could be substantially less exspensive.

For comparison a typical 4l60 is running upwards of 3k now.Thats without a converter from Rossler. they will even tell you that the trans is not reliable in the 9's.

I would charge $400 to install into the vehicle and modify the cross member.

As for a driveshaft the one you have now if you have a t56 or 4l60e should work with a simple Yoke change. Both transmission are 32 1/8 long and the 4r70w with the adapter bellhousing is 32 1/8 from bell face to the seal. I have not 100% confirmed this yet but I will be later this week as to wether we can simply change the yoke.

I am still working out the detials and when they are all nice and tidy I will post up firm pricing schedules with a detialed parts list. We are going to try to make these units a bolt in but it will take time.

Right now we are throwing enough power to go 150's with them over 700hp to the tire. No reliability problems as of yet.

they weigh about 20lbs more then a 4l60. I think its round about 175lbs or so. I will try to wiegh this one as soon as I can.

Comparing Pricing

The Rossler terminator 3 is equvilent in price to what we are offering without a T-brake and converter.

$2400 without converter or brake

It will not live long in the 9 second zone reliably. Call and ask them.

FLT is also in the same ball park with the level5

$2600 without brake or converter

These are the big 3 of 4l60's. I belive that RPM Transmission offer a unit that is in the 2000+ range.

All of these units will be limited in how much power they can handle. They cost more then our basic build without converter . If you daring we can sell just the case and bellhousing and pump and you can build your own transmission. I would prefer not to do this with anyone other then a proffesional builder who I can walk thorugh the assembly process with.

So when i say affordable and durable I mean competitive. We can get real close to the same price with a unit that is 10x better then a 4l60 trans. hopefully we can get the electronic portion working in the near future so it will be a seamless change over.

If you have any question send me a PM or call the shop.

right now im looking at this and 4l80's....still debating the pros and cons and doing the research... this sounds like a great transmission, if I did pick one up it would be without convertor because I'd like to go with a bolt together unit...

We should be able to accomodate that request for a bolt together. The 4l80 requires floor modifications and is alot heavier then this unit. If your planning on that much power we might need to look into some heavy duty shafts and a light wieght planetary carrier as well.

Here are pix of the Converter parts

Here are some pix of the converter parts. The white stuff on the cover is dried soap from the cleaning tank.
