Tire Rating help - '03 Yukon

The hoopty - my 2003 Yukon - really needs some new rubber. This is just a commuter vehicle for the family and I...I don't tow anything notable with it. I am looking at the Cooper AT3's - I had them on my Liberty before, and I liked them - plus the price is right.

So, I have two choices in a 265/75-16. One is a passenger tire, one is a "C" range LT tire. Interestingly, the passenger tire shows a higher max load. Also, the LT tire is $40 a tire more.

Which would you choose, and why? Is there a reason to go with the LT tire over the passenger tire?

Absolutely no reason that vehicle needs an LT tire. It will ride noticeably rougher with the LT over the P rated tires. Pickups rated to tow 10k+ come with P series tires. You'll be just fine with the passenger tires.

Edit: being a load range C instead of E, the ride won't be AS bad. But still noticeable compared to the passenger.

Save your money.

Cool, thanks - that was my thought. I know an E load range is pretty heavy for that vehicle, but I am unfamiliar with C vs P as it is a heavier vehicle. Wasn't sure if the C would be more beneficial for my usage for some reason. Sounds like you're thinking the P is sufficient.
