Tire Pressure?

I know suspension, weight , and power levels dictate tire pressure but what do most people use in 28/10.5/15's or 10.5s?

With my car setup with the 5 speed, and a race weight of 3000 lbs, 12.5 psi seemed to work the best. It allowed for just enough slip to give us some wheel speed, preventing it from dead-hooking and dragging the engine down with the diaphragm style clutch. We used a 3055S M/T slick (28x10.5 stiff wall). We were leaving at ~7000 RPM.

Hope this helps.

whats the difference between a stiff wall and wrinkle wall as far as launching is concerned. M/T makes both?

Stiff walls are typically for heavy cars or manuals that hit the tires real hard. They also provide better stability on the big end.

Provided you get equal traction with both tires, the stiff wall will result in better short times since it will propel you forward instead of folding over on itself.

with SS slicks I'd going up on tire pressure. 12-15 is in the range most guys run. see any signs of shake in the tire ?

the stiffs are just barely stiffer but like was said work better in heavy or manual cars

wow you guys serious? I have always said the exact opposite --- you need a wrinkle wall to absorb a violent driveline (manual) to hook without wheel hopping. With an automatic you have a stall converter to absorb that shock smooth its power distribution.

Just look at what ryan did with his stiff wall nittos / 6 speed combo this past saturday.

Heavy cars on the other hand i can agree with.

those are street tires. stiff and street tires are two diff things. even real drag radial(et street radials and BFG's) will wrinkle but not like a bias ply.
10.5s are still wrinkle walls just stiffer than normal bias ply's
these are stiff 10.5's on my car
