Tire balancing

After two attempts I'm still having a problem getting the front tires to balance and eliminate a shake that starts at 65mph. My last attempt was at a dealer who did a road force balance. Improved, but a shake is still there. 18x8 forged wheel with a 235 555 nitto on the front of my Marauder. Where to take it for a rebalance?

Dismount tire, and rotate on rim. THere is certain runout in the rim, and tires from the factory have the runout measuresd as well, and are mounted and orriented to match runouts (greeen stickers). I would dismount the tire and rotate it 180* on the rim and retry. If not, start with a visual inspection of both, may be a defect in one or the other.

rotate tires front to back see if it gets better. If not you probably have a bad tire, or front end issues. Is the shake in the steering wheel or in the seat of the car?

The shake is in the steering wheel.

Marauders have staggered fitment, not sure you can rotate.

Correct, 235 front 295 rear.

So where can I go where they will take the time to sort it out and find the problem. East side is best for me.

Steering wheel shake can be caused by worn parts, he was wanting to see if it was suspension or tire related.

What a number of people have been saying. Had a customer come and say the same thing, balanced and rebalanced, still some shake. Had worn (read loose) ball joints - both. May be time to inspect front end parts, partner. Otherwise take it to that place in Waterford - they do good work. AAA rated as well, what's their name, oh Mufflers & More.

Go to j and d auto service in oak park. They are the most honest and top notch shop around. They WILL find your problem! Tell them Nick sent you

shouldn't the road force balancer found a problem with the rim runout?? im assuming bad tire. I had a 555r drag radial bad right out of the box on me. They seem to have a higher fail rate with the larger sizes... mine was a 315. called up nitto and they took care of everything.

Assuming the guy running the balancer knew what he was doing...then yes.

^^This, way too many shops with good equipment and bad techs. I mean uneducated techs.

Problem solved!

I ended up going to Jake's Automotive in Sterling Heights. The Road Force Balance was off on three of the tires that were done by the dealer. One rear tire was fine, the other was WAY off and both fronts were off. They did a great job with the rebalance, even removed the adhesive from the prior weights and hid the outer weights behind the spokes of the Marauders wheels. Really happy with the results.

Thanks for all your input guys!!

The guys at Jakes are real good. They are racers too...

If in the future someone needs......there is a shop in St.Clair Shores that can shave tires for runout.

I have had good luck with Jakes automotive in troy. On maple and crooks. But it looks like they helped you figure out the problem at another location.
