timing chain, or gear drives? whats your oppinion

Im lookin for either a timing chain or gear drives, cant make up my mind, which ones better then the other, has anyone ran geardrives? any help would be awsome thanks.
 
yea, but those were noisey gears the have silent ones also.
I just wanna kno which one is more reliable, I kno that timing chains stretch over time and shit but I dont no anything about the gear drives. btw truck = Nasty!
 
tru tru i would think a gear setup would be better but lets wait and see what the experts say

All gear drives are loud. the newer ones are just a little bit quieter. I would go with Chain or belt.
 
If you are running EFI, I would stay away from the gear drives. I have never run a gear drive before, but I have been told that they tend to put out some vibratiob that affects the electronics. IIRC, they tended to affect knock sensors, but I'd have to re-read up on the subject again.
 
I would run a belt, the belt is more accurate and dampens valvetrain harmonics. It also is good for 8 horsepower or so but that's not its biggest benefit. Nothing like swapping cams without having to take off the timing cover!!!
